Special Status Resolution: No compromise, drafted in a way to ensure Centre doesn’t trash it, says Omar Abdullah

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

‘HM, PM talking about resolution means something; I am not wasting single day of my Govt, my mission to achieve something for people of J&K; Resolution to open doors, Law & Order not in our domain, but no rift with Police, Security Forces; two ways to ensure peace: Either by force or with peoples’ partnership, I have chosen second one; Verification process was weaponized, relaxing procedure; Expecting Statehood Soon’

SRINAGAR NOV 08(KNO): Jammu and Kashmir UT’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday said the resolution on special status passed by the Legislative Assembly was no compromise and that it was drafted in a way to ensure Centre doesn’t trash it.

Speaking on the motion of thanks of Lieutenant Governor’s Address in the LA, Omar as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that some members here claimed that the resolution passed by this House was a “compromise.”

    *ON RESOLUTION*

“There is no compromise. Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed entered into an alliance with BJP and when he passed away, PDP put conditions and sought Agenda for Alliance. BJP kept PDP waiting for three months,” Omar said as per news agency KNO. “When government was formed with the BJP, PDP worked on the same salary.”

Omar said that it was because of that compromise, J&K has reached this stage. “They tell us that we were also part of the BJP. I admit, yes, we were but not here. We were in an alliance with the BJP at the Centre to ensure BJP doesn’t reach J&K,” Omar said. “When by-elections were held in Jammu, NC fielded its own candidate and won the seat. Perhaps that became the reason for BJP to cut some Jammu areas that were made part of Anantnag now.”

He said when the special status resolution was passed, the Kashmir based opposition leaders were seen thumping the tables. “I believe due to the ruckus created by the BJP; they would not have read the copy of resolution here. They came to my chamber, hugged and congratulated me. And till then, they still didn’t read the copy of the resolution. After the house was adjourned, they still couldn’t read it,” Omar said. “These people (Kashmiri opposition leaders) told me it was historic and then claimed it was a compromise.”

Omar said that the resolution was drafted in a way so that Centre doesn’t trash it or send it to the dustbin. “Today, Home Minister (Amit Shah) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior ministers of Government of India are talking about it. If this resolution would have been weak, why would the PM, HM and others mention it. The fact is that this Assembly has passed a historic resolution that would open doors not close the doors,” the Chief Minister said.

Omar said that he doesn’t expect much from the present government at the Centre. “The road map is there for the next government be it us or other party,” he said as per KNO.

*WILL ENSURE NOT TO WASTE A SINGLE DAY*

Omar said that at times he regrets how much J&K has lost. “But what keeps me going is the enthusiasm inside. I will not ensure even a single day is wasted and something is achieved for the people of J&K,” the Chief Minister said.

    *HISTORIC SESSION*

The Chief Minister said that the first session was for five days and time was less. “But it was historic and a historic resolution was passed. I thank all the voters of J&K, who participated in large numbers in the recently concluded elections irrespective of the fact for whom they voted,” Omar said. “The voters stood in queues and voted in large numbers. I assure all voters that the Assembly will reflect their aspirations. I want to tell the voters that this House belongs to them and those also who didn’t vote.

    *ON LG’s Address*

Omar said that they wanted a detailed discussion on LG’s Address with every member’s participation.

“We wanted the opposition to talk about why they don’t need constitution safeguards. Instead of discussion, we saw a drama. They (BJP legislators) climbed tables and even didn’t spare the secretary’s table as well.” Omar said it is in favour of the government when opposition creates uproar.

Freedom of Speech back After 5 years.

The Chief Minister said that he was glad to see freedom of speech returning in J&K. “Be it social media or other means or those whose pens had stopped to write and whose computer keys had gathered rust and dust, all are back and expressing their views again after a gap of five years,” he said.

On Change in academic Session: The Chief Minister said that there was a huge demand for change in academic session. “This was part of our disempowerment that the exam schedule was changed without consulting parents and students. I am thankful to Education minister Sakina Itoo, who reviewed and brought a proposal and we reversed the decision and restored it to the November-December session,” he said.

    *VERIFICATION WAS WEAPONIZED.*

Omar said that the verification process especially CID verification regarding jobs, passports and other things was weaponized. “My government is working to ensure the verification system is eased for the relief of people,” he said, as per KNO.

    PEACE WITH PEOPLES PARTNERSHIP

Omar said that J&K was a UT and law and order was not the domain of his government. “But that doesn’t mean we have a rift with the police or any other security agency. Government is ready to support police and other security forces to establish peace. If there is no peace, development won’t take place. There are two ways of establishing peace: By force, that entails arresting people and creating fear psychosis and second establishing peace with peoples partnership. I am with the second one.”

WILL ENSURE RELEASE OF PRISONERS WITH NO SERIOUS OFFENCES

Omar said that once J&K gets its full statehood, his government will work for the release of prisoners who have no serious charges and cases against them. “At present it’s not our domain but once we get our powers, we will pursue this issue,” he said as per KNO.

    ON STATEHOOD

Omar said that the current Assembly is not the one he would have wanted in terms of powers. “But this House is a way-forward to make J&K a full-fledged state. I was in Delhi recently where I handed over copies of the cabinet resolution on Statehood cleared by the LG office to PM Modi. My meetings were successful and I am hopeful that the Statehood will be restored soon,” Omar said—(KNO)

    SHAFQAT SHEIKH

    CHENAB VALLEY NOVEMBER 08:-

In the current technological age, the private and government sectors find it more convenient to accomplish tasks efficiently, utilizing internet resources and minimizing time wastage. However, while seeking support from associates is acceptable, mimicking others’ approaches is a menace in society. Examining Western culture reveals that everyone aspires to follow the same trajectory. Similarly, in various professional spheres, copying has emerged as a dominant trend.

The fourth pillar of democracy, journalism, has lost its shine due to the prevalence of copy-and-paste journalists. The information technology era has simplified the process of copying and pasting, enabling individuals to claim others’ work as their own.

A significant number of social media users perpetuate the practice of copying and pasting content from others, presenting it as their own and undermining the fourth estate in democratic India. This phenomenon, referred to as ‘CRAP’ (Copy Rewrite And Post) journalism, constitutes a serious breach of journalistic ethics and warrants stringent action. This behavior discourages in-depth research and promotes intellectual complacency.

It is not unethical to access others’ social networking sites, but reproducing their content without permission and passing it off as one’s own on a blog is a serious breach of journalistic integrity. This phenomenon of ‘copy-and-paste journalism’ has become a blight on the profession, fostering corruption and eroding trust. Those who engage in this practice, often masquerading as Bureau Chiefs or Special Correspondents, bring disrepute to the field of journalism and raise questions about the legitimacy of the information department.

    SHAFQAT SHEIKH

They seek credible information and updates from other journalists to bolster their reputation. Likewise, students often replicate answers from subject-specific forums, assuming their lecturers are unaware of the source. This creates a challenge where individuals with inadequate knowledge in their field are promoted. The true assessment comes when they fail to apply their knowledge. This phenomenon is prevalent across sectors, and the tendency to copy-paste has reached its zenith, compromising the fourth estate’s credibility.

Concerning their societal significance, true journalists bridge the gap between marginalized communities and the administration, championing their causes without discrimination or bias. However, journalists who rely on copy-paste reporting imperil democracy, undermining public safety and confidence and misappropriating the power of the Fourth Estate.

The expertise of our professionals is undermined when they focus on reproducing stories without proper research, hoping their audience is unaware of the original context. In conclusion, writing may not be your strength; unless your ambition is to be a second-rate journalist, in which case you are excellent.

Experts are penalized for duplicate content as they drive the promotion of high-caliber content. They aim for their primary search results to be feature-rich websites that deliver quality content to users. I praise their commitment to this endeavor. They have reached a significant milestone. Content creators are well aware of the frustration that comes with having their original content copied. I preserve a blog post as evidence and articles that showcase the value of innovative thinking and encourage readers who may be engaged in such practices to cease them.

Farooq Inqlabi Slams Rural Development Department Over Pending Payments to Contractors in Rajouri

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

RAJOURI NOV 08:– Senior PDP leader, Farooq Inqlabi, has strongly criticized the Rural Development Department (RDD) for its failure to release payments to contractors who completed works under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and constructed segregation sheds last year in Block Budhal New of Rajouri District. Inqlabi expressed deep concern over the financial hardship faced by the contractors due to the non-release of funds, particularly in Block Budhal New.

“The contractors who completed their work in good faith under the SBM scheme are now suffering as the payments for their hard work have not been cleared by the department,” Inqlabi stated. He pointed out that this delay is severely affecting the livelihoods of the contractors, many of whom are struggling to meet their financial obligations.

Inqlabi called for the immediate intervention of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajouri to ensure that the pending payments are cleared without further delay. “The contractors deserve to be paid for the work they have done. The delay in payment is an injustice and it must be addressed at the earliest,” he emphasized.

The PDP leader also issued a stern warning to the officers of the Rural Development Department, stating that if the payments are not released soon, the contractors may have no choice but to stage protests against the administration. “If the government fails to resolve this issue, it could lead to protests by contractors, which will reflect poorly on the administration,” Inqlabi warned.

Inqlabi urged the concerned authorities to prioritize the issue and take swift action to ensure that contractors receive the payments they are rightfully owed.
