    CM Promises people-centric governance and bridging the Gap between government and people

    SRINAGAR, OCT 16:- Omar Abdullah officially took charge as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir today, marking a significant political moment for the Union Territory.
    Upon his arrival at the Civil Secretariat, he was met with a grand reception by officers and employees. The Chief Minister was also honored with a ceremonial guard of honor.
    The Chief Minister made his way to his office chambers, where he was warmly greeted by his staff before formally assuming office.
    Following assuming his office, the Chief Minister held an introductory meeting with the administrative secretaries to set the tone for his new administration.
    The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, along with ministers Sakeena Itoo, Javed Ahmad Rana, Javid Ahmad Dar, and Satish Sharma.
    Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and all administrative Secretaries of departments were also present.
    At the start of the meeting, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo extended a warm welcome to the new Chief Minister and expressed the administration’s full commitment to supporting Omar Abdullah led government.
    “We are fully dedicated to fulfilling the vision of the government and ensuring the progress of the people,” Dulloo said.
    In his address, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised the officers for their role in ensuring peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
    He emphasized the immense faith the people of the region have placed in democracy, the government, and its institutions.
    “We must rise to the occasion and meet the expectations that have been placed on us,” he stated.
    Focusing on governance, the CM reiterated the need for a people-first approach, highlighting that the government’s primary role is to serve the citizens and address their concerns.
    He acknowledged that a gap has emerged between the people and the government over the years, but expressed his commitment to reducing this distance.
    “Our administration’s approach will be people-friendly. We have entered the Civil Secretariat with a positive mindset, focused on delivering the best for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Omar remarked.
    He emphasized that bridging the gap between citizens and the government is a top priority, adding, “Democratic governments are preferred all over India for this very reason, and we will work tirelessly to bring people closer to the government and its institutions.”
    Omar Abdullah also expressed his willingness to collaborate closely with the officers, pledging his full cooperation and expecting the same in return.

    SRINAGAR OCT 16:-In a significant move to promote life-saving techniques, the All Employees Joint Association Kashmir (AEJAK) and the All Sikh Minority Employees Association Kashmir (ASMEA), under the leadership of Chairperson Jagmeet Kour Bali, held an important event focused on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The event, coordinated in collaboration with the Help Foundation, emphasized the goal of training at least one person per household in CPR to effectively respond to emergency situations.

    Speaking at the event, Jagmeet Kour highlighted the critical importance of CPR, explaining, “CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, an emergency life-saving procedure performed when someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. Understanding this technique can save lives in critical moments.” She further stressed that her associations, along with the Help Foundation, are committed to extending these training efforts throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

    The event witnessed active participation from key figures, including Premjit Singh, General Secretary of ASMEA, and Daleep Kumar, General Secretary of AEJAK. Saba Zulqarnain played a pivotal role in coordinating the event.

    JAMMU OCT 16:–Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina  congratulated Omar Abdullah on being sworn in as chief minister, and expressed hope that the new government will work towards further strengthening peace and progress in the Union territory.

    Abdullah was sworn in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the first elected government in the Union Territory since 2019, when Article 370 was abrogated.

    “I congratulate Omar Abdullah for taking over as chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. I also congratulate Surinder Choudhary for taking oath as deputy chief minister, along with the other ministers,” Raina told reporters here today.

    Raina expressed hope that the new government will work towards peace and progress in the region.

    SRINAGAR OCT 16(KNO):-Hours after swore-in as the first chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Omar Abdullah received the guard of honour at Srinagar’s Civil Secretariat before assuming the CM’s office.

    As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Omar reached the Civil Secretariat here where he was given the guard of honor.

    The chief minister is all set to chair the maiden meeting of administrative secretaries at the Civil Secretariat. An order issued yesterday reads that the chief minister will be chairing a meeting of all Administrative Secretaries on 16-10-2024 (Wednesday) at 03:00 PM in the Meeting Hall, 3rd Floor, Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.

    All the Administrative Secretaries were requested to kindly attend the meeting on the scheduled date, time and venue.

    Pertinently, Omar swore-in as the first chief minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir amidst the presence of several top INDI Alliance leaders including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rhaul Gandhi, senior AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi, AICC President Malikkarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and others.

    RAJOURI OCT 15:-Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Thannamandi, Abid Hussain Shah, JKAS on Tuesday (October 15) conducted surprise inspections of various government offices to ensure efficient functioning and public service delivery.
    The institutions inspected by the SDM include Primary Health Centers (PHCs), schools, the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Offices of Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry and the Receiving Station at Rajdhani.
    At Public Health Centers at Lah and Thanamandi, the:- officer (SDM) checked staff attendance, reviewed the duty roster of doctors, and interacted with patients to understand the quality of services provided.
    Emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted healthcare, SDM, Abid Hussain Shah issued strict directions for maintaining a proper duty roster and ensuring that no patient is made to suffer due to staff negligence.
    At the ZEO Office Thannamandi, he checked staff attendance and instructed the ZEO to strictly monitor staff punctuality across schools within the subdivision.
    This was followed by visits to several schools, including Government Higher Secondary School Thanamandi, Boys Middle School Thanamandi, Middle School Birthpuri, and Primary School Danna Thanna, where he evaluated both academic performance and the mid-day meal (MDM) programs.
    While interacting with school authorities, the SDM directed the Head of Institutions (HOIs) to focus on improving students’ academic performance, ensure regular staff attendance, and maintain cleanliness in and around the school premises.
    SDM, Abid Hussain Shah stressed that mid-day meals must be served in accordance with the prescribed menu, ensuring a balanced diet for students.
    He also engaged directly with students during his visits, encouraging them to focus on their studies and take full advantage of the resources available to them.
    The SDM further visited the Receiving Station at Rajdhani, where he checked staff attendance and urged officials to maintain regular attendance and proper management at the station.
    These surprise inspections reflect SDM Thanamandi’s commitment to improving public service delivery and ensuring that the institutions under his jurisdiction function efficiently and effectively.

    RAJOURI OCT 15:-Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, who is also Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri, in an order issued from Lt Governor’s Secretariat, has officially appointed Prof Jawaid Iqbal as the new Vice-Chancellor of BGSBU.
    The Chancellor issued the appointment order in exercise of the powers vested in him under Statute 2 Clause (1) of the Schedule appended to the Jammu and Kashmir Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Act, 2002.
    Prof Jawaid Iqbal has been appointed VC of BGSBU Rajouri for a period of three years from the date on which he takes over the charge.
    Prof Jawaid Iqbal is currently a Professor in the Department of West Asian and North African Studies at Aligarh Muslim University.
    Professor Jawaid Iqbal is a highly accomplished expert in the field of International Relations.
    He has held prominent academic and administrative roles, including Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, and Chairmanship of several departments, such as the Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Department of South African and Brazilian Studies, and the Department of Foreign Languages at AMU, Aligarh.
    His contributions extend beyond administration, as he has played diverse roles in research, development, promotion, curriculum design, and other administrative capacities at Aligarh Muslim University.
    Prof Jawaid Iqbal has a strong academic background, including a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
    Dr Jawaid Iqbal boasts over 31 years of teaching experience & has successfully supervised over 20 post-doctoral and doctoral students, specializing in International Relations, Conflict Resolution, and Peace Studies.
    In the month of February 2021, the J&K government had appointed Dean Academic Affairs at Kashmir University, Prof Akbar Masood as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri for a period of three years.
    Reliable inside sources said that during the last 3-4 years no major development project was initiated in the university.
    On the other hand few under execution projects were left halfway.
