    RAJOURI AUGUST 28:–Renowned social activist and spiritual leader Mian Mohammad Mehfooz is set to contest assembly elections as an independent candidate from Rajouri assembly constituency.

    Son of the Late Mian Mohammed Luqman, Mehfooz is a prominent figure hailing from village Palullian in Rajouri.

    His lineage is deeply rooted in the spiritual heritage of the area, as he is the grandson of the revered Sufi saint, the late Mian Ghulam Sarwar, whose legacy continues to resonate across generations.

    The family’s spiritual influence transcends religious boundaries, drawing followers from diverse communities, including Sikhs and Hindus, from the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

    Mian Mehfooz in 2020 District Development Council (DDC) elections contested from Doongi constituency in Rajouri and garnered 6,848 votes, emerging as the first runner up as he lost by a narrow margin of 164 votes.

    On Wednesday, a meet of civil society members was convened at his residence wherein all the participants raised slogans in favour of Mian Mehfooz  after that its announced that he will contest polls as an independent candidate from the Rajouri assembly segment.

    The participants also appealed people from all walks of life to extend their vote and support for Mian Mehfooz and to secure his win.

    POONCH AUGUST 28:–The 4th edition of the Poonch Premier League (PPL) concluded yesterday with the Poonch Royals emerging victorious in a closely contested final that was decided in the very last ball. The Poonch Roaring Lions were the runners-up. A total of 10 teams participated in this auction-based league the first and largest of its kind in Jammu & Kashmir modeled after the IPL. Over the course of the league 39 matches were played.

    During the closing ceremony of the final match CPO Poonch Mohd Rafique Malik was the Chief GGues.During his address
    Chief Guest congratulated the management committee for organizing such a significant event to involve youth in sports activities.

    The Guests of Honour included Nirdosh Kumar Sharma (Manager Sports Stadium Poonch) Mushtaq Ahmed (Manager Indoor Stadium Poonch) Zakir Hussain (Senior Assistant Sports Council Poonch) and Rajinder Singh Toofan (PEM Youth Services and Sports Department). The Chairman of the Poonch Premier League, Pervaiz Malik Afridi extended his gratitude to all the guests.

    Live coverage of the final match was provided by Ayaz Ahmed Sachin Sharma and Basit Rathore while Ajaz Ahmed Malik entertained the crowd with his commentary.

    This 4th edition of the tournament held consecutively over the years has made history.The aim of such tournaments is to keep the youth away from drugs evil influences and anti-national activities. Chairman PPL Pervaiz Malik Afridi expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone involved particularly the Department of Youth Services and Sports for providing officials for the tournament the J&K Sports Council for providing the ground the District Administration the Police Department all sponsors and especially Pervaiz Mughal who is dedicated to supporting the youth. He also thanked all the team owners for their involvement.

    RAJOURI, AUGUST 28:–District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri Abhishek Sharma inspected the strong rooms designated for the Assembly Constituencies (AC) of Rajouri and Thanamandi here today. The inspections were carried out at the Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri for AC Rajouri and at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Rajouri for Thanamandi AC.

    The DEO emphasized the importance of stringent security measures and directed officials to maintain log book registers at the strong rooms. He instructed that CCTV cameras be strategically placed to focus directly on the locks of the strong rooms, ensuring continuous surveillance.

    Further instructions were issued for the safety and integrity of the strong rooms, including the proper wiring around the rooms, ensuring single entrance for entry, preventing any dampness around the premises, and conducting a thorough fire audit of all strong rooms.

    The DEO also reviewed the parking management for vehicles deployed for election duties, stressing the need for an efficient distribution plan that prioritizes the farthest polling stations.

    In addition to these measures, DEO Abhishek Sharma directed the concerned authorities to carry out Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities within the College to enhance voter awareness and participation.

    He also directed to nominate the Nodal Officer of the Dispatch and Receipt centre (DCRC) and also adhere strictly to the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI) while performing their duties.

    Accompanying the DEO during the inspection were Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohd Jahangir Khan; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thanamandi, Abid Hussain; Executive Engineer PWD, Sardar Khan; District Information Officer Rajouri, Ashiq Rafiq Malik; and other district and sectoral officers.

Vikas Kundal here at Dakbunglow Poonch. He held a crucial meeting with the district Election officer Poonch in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections in Poonch district. The District Election Officer Poonch Sh. Vikas Kundal, (IAS) provided a comprehensive presentation detailing the proactive steps taken by the district administration to monitor election-related expenditures.

    During the meeting, the Expenditure Observer emphasized the importance of diligence and adherence to the guidelines throughout the election process. He assured the district Election officer of his full support and accessibility, encouraging him to address any issues or concerns directly with him. Furthermore, he highlighted the critical role the expenditure monitoring team plays in ensuring the integrity of the election process, urging him to ensure that the team members perform their duties with the utmost professionalism.
