    SRINAGAR AUGUST 13:–Maroof Khan, a prominent figure in Jammu & Kashmir, has made a strong appeal to the government to increase the number of drug rehabilitation centers across the region. Recognizing the alarming rise in drug abuse, Khan stressed the urgent need for enhanced facilities to aid those struggling with addiction.

    Khan also emphasized the critical role of community-level interventions in tackling the drug menace. He proposed that, in addition to opening more rehabilitation centers, the government should focus on establishing local counseling facilities at the grassroots level. “If we can place psychiatrists in local dispensaries, where they can provide regular counseling and support, it would have a significant impact on preventing drug abuse and helping those already affected,” Khan suggested.

    In his statement, Khan called for collective action, urging not only the government but also the general public to come together on a common platform. “The fight against drug abuse is not just the responsibility of the government; it is a battle that requires the active participation of every citizen. We must unite for the betterment of our society and work together to eradicate this menace from our communities,” Khan stated.

    RAJOURI, AUGUST 13:– In a significant step towards realizing the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat, today flagged off an inspiring awareness rally of students. A Nasha Mukt bharat pledge was also taken by all the participants on the occasion. The event was organised by the Social Welfare department.

    The rally started from the DC office complex and concluded at the PWD Dak Bunglow, spreading a powerful message against the menace of drug addiction. Deputy Commissioner while speaking on the occasion shed light on the objectives and significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He also emphasized that the fight against addiction is a collective responsibility, and it is imperative that we come together to eradicate this menace. The Deputy Commissioner underscored the commitment of the district administration to work for creation of drug addiction free society. He also said that the growing menace of drug addiction among our youth is a serious concern and it is our duty to protect the future of our nation by addressing this issue on priority.

    Among the others who attended the event were the District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem; officers of the Education and officials of the Social Welfare department.

The event took place at the District Police Line, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajiv Kumar Khajuria hoisted the National Flag and took the salute from the participating contingents.The contingents included the Police band, CRPF, IRP, JKP, FPF, NCC, and School squads. The Additional Deputy Commissioner inspected the parade, observed the band drill and reviewed the contingents’ march past, and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by various departments to ensure the smooth celebration of Independence Day. Students also presented scintillating cultural performances, highlighting themes of patriotism, cultural traditions and social issues, which were highly appreciated by the audience.

    Speaking on the occasion, ADC Rajouri emphasized that true patriotism involves understanding our responsibilities towards the nation and fulfilling them. He alsoappealed to the public to come forward and cooperate in fostering peace, prosperity, and development in the area. He further urged the students to perform even more skillfully on the day of the main function to ensure that the celebrations are held successfully with full enthusiasm.     RAJOURI AUGUST 12:–Presence of the enemy just a few hundred metres away (across LoC), keeping eagle’s eye to foil any attempt made by the terrorists to sneak into India territory and fighting with unfavourable weather conditions and hostile terrain, makes the situation more difficult for the Indian soldiers deployed at the advance areas.
    On August 12, Indian Army troops stationed along the LoC in Sunderbani & Naushera sectors in Rajouri district, displayed unwavering courage and resilience which was also witnessed by media personnel.
    Amidst challenging terrains and extreme conditions, soldiers showcased their dedication, technological advancements like -smart fences, and their commitment to continuous training.
    The visit highlighted the formidable challenges faced by soldiers stationed at the border, who steadfastly defend the nation with determination and selflessness.
    Amidst the breathtaking yet unforgiving landscapes, the soldiers displayed an indomitable spirit as they tackled adversities with unwavering commitment and an assuring smile.
    Despite extreme weather conditions, isolation, and the constant demand for vigilance, these soldiers embody remarkable resilience.
    Their dedication was palpable as they shared their experiences and the daily sacrifices they make.
    It became clear that beyond their uniforms, each soldier harbours a deep sense of duty and pride in safeguarding the homeland.

    RAJOURI AUGUST 12:–Habitants of Kotranka subdivision in Rajouri district have expressed their resentment against the Education Department, especially Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kotranka, for charging fees from the parents of poor students by violating section 3(2) in the Right of Children to Free & Compulsory Education Act-2009.

    Section 3 of the Act of Union of India read, “ Every child of the age of six to fourteen years, including a child referred to in clause (d) or clause (e) of section 2, shall have the right to free and compulsory education in a neighbourhood school till the completion of his or her elementary education.](2)For the purpose of sub-section (1), no child shall be liable to pay any kind of fee or charges or expenses which may prevent him or her from pursuing and completing the elementary education,”.

    On behalf of residents of Kotranka subdivision former Sarpanch of Lower Kewal Panchayat & a prominent social/political activist of Budhal area, Farooq Inqlabi has lodged a written complaint with Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Complaint against ZEO Kotranka regarding unlawful fee collection and also appealed to intervene in this matter.
    “We have made several attempts to reach out to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kotranka to discuss this matter, but regrettably, she has not attended our calls. This lack of response further exacerbates the situation and raises concerns about accountability,” said Farooq Inqlabi.
    “This illegal practice is causing undue stress and hardship to the parents who are already struggling to provide their children with basic education,” he added.

    Farooq Inqlabi has appealed to Lt intervene to intervene in this matter and take appropriate action against the ZEO Kotranka, ensuring that the rights of these children are no upheld and that justice is served to the affected parents.
