    RAJOURI JULY 02:–Ahead of commencement of annual Shri Buddha Amarnath ji Yatra-2024 situated in Mandi Town of Poonch district, Security Forces in a joint operation have recovered, reportedly rusted, two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 15 kg & 8 kg each from a border village in Mendahr tehsil.
    Recently, the Army has rounded up two suspects residents of Mendhar from Pir Panjal area reportedly for felicitating the terrorists.
    A search operation was launched by the Army & J&K Police in Sangar-Kasbaladi area of Mankot sector situated along the Line of Control (LoC).
    During the search, a joint team of Army & Police recovered two IEDs in the evening on Tuesday which were later detonated by the Army’s bomb disposal squad using controlled explosions.
    On June 28, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary visited the Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Shrine at Mandi and discussed arrangements with the temple management Committee headed by Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati and Government functionaries.

    RAJOURI JULY 02:–District administration and district police Rajouri leaving no stone unturned to eradicate the menace of drugs from the district.
    Under one such initiative Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Thannamandi, Abid Hussain Shah convened a crucial meeting today in his chamber to review effectiveness of anti-drug initiatives and ensuring drug-free Panchayats and Municipalities in the region.
    The meeting brought together key officials from various departments including Tehsildar, Block Development Officer, representatives of Block Medical Officer, Station House Officer (SHO), representatives of Principals of Govt higher secondary schools (boys and girls) and Govt HSS Planger.
    President of the local Medical/Chemist Association and Khatib Jamia Masjid were also among the attendees.
    The SDM emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to combat drug abuse. He stressed the need for a robust system to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing anti-drug initiatives.
    He directed the concerned officials to seamlessly work together and ensure the implementation of effective strategies at the grassroots level.
    The SDM also highlighted the role of educational institutions and community leaders in spreading awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and fostering a culture of vigilance and responsibility among the youth.
    The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all officials to intensify their efforts and collaborate more closely in the fight against drugs, aiming to create a safer and healthier environment for the residents of Thanamandi.

    JAMMU JULY 02:-– Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the Kounsar Nag Yatra, scheduled from August 7th to August 10th, 2024. The meeting focused on ensuring seamless arrangements for security, medical care, transportation, power and water supply for the convenience of the devotees.

    The President of the Kounsar Nag Yatra Management Committee shared insights with the Deputy Commissioner regarding the facilities and challenges faced during last year’s Yatra.

    The Deputy Commissioner asked the SDM Mahore and BDO Mahore to ensure all necessary preparations are in place. The XEN Jal Shakti Dharmari was tasked with ensuring uninterrupted water supply at specified locations during the Yatra, while XEN PDD Reasi was instructed to secure reliable power arrangements.

    In the meeting, it was decided that robust medical facilities would be established. A dedicated team of doctors will be stationed at designated locations, equipped with sufficient stock of medicines and oxygen cylinders to cater to the Yatris’ needs. Additionally, medical teams will accompany the Yatra to provide continuous support.

    The DC also stressed the need for proper registration and medical testing of all Yatris, Tehsildar Reasi designated as the Registration Officer. He added that Pithuwalas and Ponywalas would also undergo registration.

    The Deputy Commissioner assured that the District Administration will take every possible measure to ensure the success of the Yatra, making it a safe and pleasant experience for all participants.

    SSP, Mohita Sharma provided an overview of the security measures planned to ensure a smooth and safe Yatra.

    The meeting concluded with assurances from all officials to work collaboratively to facilitate a successful and peaceful Kounsar Nag Yatra 2024.

    The meeting was attended by Commandant CRPF 126 BN Bidda Nisar Mohammad, ADC Kulbhushan Khajuria, ACR Anshumali Sharma, ACD Pradeep Kumar, ARTO, Tehsildar Reasi, DIO (Info) and members of the Kounsar Nag Yatra Management Committee, Yog Raj Mengi, Takan Dass, and Vinod Sharma. Commanding Officer 33 RR Budhal, Commanding Officer 58 RR Mahore, SDM Mahore and SDPO Mahore joined virtually.

    RAJOURI/NEW DELHI JULY 01:–Day after General Upendra Dwivedi assumed the charge as Chief of Army Staff on June 30, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani on July 1 assumed the appointment of the Vice Chief of Army Staff.
    Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani was tenanting the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command based at Lucknow.
    He was commissioned into The Garhwal Rifles in Dec 1985. He has graduated from the prestigious National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy.
    Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani is an alumnus of Joint Services Command Staff College, Bracknell (UK), and National Defence College, New Delhi.
    He holds a Master of Arts Degree from King’s College London and M Phil in Defence Studies from Madras University.
    He has in his illustrious career spanning over 37 years served across a wide spectrum of conflict and terrain profiles and has tenanted a host of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments.
    Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani has insightful knowledge and a deep understanding of operational dynamics on both the Western and Northern Borders.
    For his distinguished service to the Nation, the General Officer has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.

    RAJOURI JULY 01:–Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar in Poonch district in a circular issued on Monday has advised people not to visit forest areas at night wearing blankets & shawls without prior permission/approval from Army or police.
    The decision was taken on the direction from Army authorities claiming that some many civilians used to visit/roam in forest areas and fields during night hours wearing shawls and blankets.
    Reliable sources said that there are apprehensions that hard core OGWs taking advantage of darkness are likely engaged in felicitating the movement of terrorists and providing them food & shelter by taking advantage of darkness.
    Latest glaring example is of Hakim Khan @ Hakim Din r/o Sunderbani who admitted to have provided food, shelter to 3 terrorists who attacked pilgrims’ bus in Reasi district without being noticed by the intelligence agencies, security forces.
    SDM Mendhar in a circular issued today said that various security agencies aften launch/search operations in the forest areas along LoC during odd hours to combat any anti-infiltration/anti-social activities by miscreants.
    “The general public is hereby informed through this circular that no person wearing shawls/blankets etc without seeking permission fro concerned Army/police authorities shall visit/roam in the forest areas during late/night hours from 9 pm to 4 am in order to avoid any misshaping/untoward incident.” Read SDM Mendhar circular.
    It is pertinent to mention here that in the last week of June Army has detained three suspicious persons from ‘Dhokes’ (pastures) in Pir Panjal region, including two from Mendhar tehsil.
    Security Forces are at highest alert in both the border districts of Rajouri & Poonch in the wake of terrorists’ attack on Indian Air Force convoy and Army convoy (in Poonch district) and an attack on a bus in Reasi district carrying pilgrims from UP & Rajasthan.
    No contact has been established with the perpetrators of these terror attacks till date.
    It is pertinent to mention here that according to senior most Police & Army officers 3-4 groups of highly trained Pakistani terrorists are camping near LoC opposite to Rajouri & Poonch districts and those already operating in these districts may disturb the forthcoming Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra situated in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district.
