    RAJOURI JUNE 25:–In a meeting chaired by District President, Dinesh Sharma & held here in Rajouri at BJP office, the BJP leaders/ activists observed the imposition of Emergency on June 25 in 1975 as Black Day.
    BJP leaders/activists gathered to remember and condemn the actions taken during this period, described it as a dark chapter in Indian democracy.
    “The Emergency imposed in 1975 by the Congress Party is a black spot on Indian democracy. We cannot forget the atrocities committed by Congress on innocent Indians during this period. That is why we are observing Emergency Day as Black Day,” Dinesh Sharma stated.
    “The Congress’ politically driven decision to impose a state of Emergency had shaken the very pillars of democracy as it tried to trample over the Constitution given by B.R. Ambedkar”, he added.
    “Emergency of 1975 is an unforgivable sin of Congress Party. Before the President’s signature on the declaration papers, top national leaders like JP Narayan, Morarji Desai, LK Advani and AB Vajpayee along with hundreds of others had been imprisoned overnight,” said Dinesh Sharma.
    Senior BJP leader Rajinder Gupta said: “The imposition of Emergency was a direct assault on the fundamental rights of Indian citizens. It is crucial that we remember this day to honour the resilience of those who fought against tyranny and to educate future generations about the importance of preserving democratic values. Our observance of Black Day is a testament to our commitment to democracy and freedom,”.
    Manzoor Naik, General Secretary BJP Rajouri said: “The Congress talks about protecting the Constitution, yet it displayed utter disregard for it when the Emergency was imposed on the country. Civil liberties were curtailed, scores of people were jailed, and the media was gagged. Our effort today is to remind people about this event and ensure that such a dark period is never repeated in our nation’s history”.
    Pushpinder Gupta, BJP General Secretary Rajouri said: “”The arrogant and autocratic Congress government had suspended people’s civil rights for 21 months for the sake of power to one family. Censorship was imposed on the media, the Constitution was amended, and even the judiciary was restrained.”
    The BJP Rajouri Unit reiterated its commitment to safeguarding democratic values and freedoms, emphasizing the importance of remembering past injustices to prevent their recurrence.
    The meeting concluded with a pledge to uphold and protect the democratic principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution and to continue working towards a just and free society for all citizens.

    RAJOURI JUNE 24:--Besides the arrest of Hakim Din (45) s/o Makhan Din resident of Bandhrahi (in Sunderbani of Rajouri district), Reasi police have rounded up more than 150 suspects after terror attack on pilgrim’s bus in which 9 people were killed and more than 40 were injured.
    In continuation of its action against the suspects, Reasi police on Monday reportedly arrested the brother-in-law of Hakim Din namely Nazir s/o Qasim who allegedly was also involved in helping the three Pakistani terrorists.
    The suspects rounded up by Reasi police for questioning, including those who had provided logistic help to the terrorists involved in the attack on the bus, included the wife, son and other relatives of Hakim Din.
    Meanwhile, after alleged information (s) about suspicious movements, Security Forces launched search operations in Taryath, Jata and Devak areas of Kalakot and Sunderbani.
    Security has been tightened in Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi districts after the attacks on pilgrims’ bus on June 9.
    Hakim Din acted as a guide, led the terrorists to the spot where the bus was attacked and managed to take the terrorists back safely, who were still untraced despite more than 14 days-long search and destroy operation launched by the security forces.
    According to SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, and as was admitted by Hakim Din, a day before the attack on pilgrims’ bus these three terrorists stayed at Hakim Din’s home and were provided with food and shelter.
    Hakim also informed the police that during recce of the road, the area for attack was selected where no CCTY cameras were available for recording of the attack and identification of the terrorists.

    Zahid Hussain Research Scholar receives ITS from SERB.

    RAJOURI JUNE 24:–In another feather to BGSBU’s cap, a Research Scholar at BGSBU Rajouri namely Zahid Hussain received International Travel Support (ITS) from the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) to present his research findings on Indian Trichoptera during XVIII International Symposia on Trichoptera to be held at Quito Ecuador from 1-5 July, 2024.
    Republic of Ecuador, is a country in northwestern South America, bordered by Colombia on the north, Peru on the east and south, and the Pacific Ocean on the west.
    Trichoptera is one of the 7th specious insect orders, the adults of which are terrestrial, and immature forms are aquatic in nature.
    Zahid Hussain is working under the supervision of Dr Sajad H. Parey at Department of Zoology, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri.
    Vice Chancellor BGSBU, Prof Akbar Masood congratulated the Research Scholar Zahid Hussain for grabbing the funding from SERB to attend this prestigious gathering of Insect Scientists of the globe at Quito, Ecuador.
    Dr A A Shah, DAA applauded the scholar & encouraged him to learn new & robustic research techniques during the symposia.
    Shahbaz Mirza (JKAS), Registrar BGSBU personally encouraged & appreciated Zahid Hussain for representing the BGSBU as well India at World level during the Symposia at Ecuador.
    Research revealed that Trichoptera is an order of moth-like holometabolous insects, known as caddisflies (or caddis flies), with aquatic, silk-spinning, caterpillar-like larva and adults that have long antenna and four, large, hair-covered wings that typically are without scales and are held tent-like over the abdomen.
    The larvae and pupae are mainly found in freshwater habitats, but marine and terrestrial species are known.
    There are about 12,000 known species of caddisflies. Other common names include sedge-flies and rail flies.
