    RAJOURI MAY 09:–Even on the 6th day of terrorist attack on Indian Air Force Convoy, which claimed the life of Corporal Vikky Pahade and injuries to other 4 on May 4, a breakthrough to eliminate the terrorists involved eluded the security forces even after a massive search operation.
    Security Forces, including Army, CRPF, & J&K Police have intensified search operations in the entire Surankot and adjoining areas.
    Three to four Pakistani terrorists are said to be involved in this attack near Shahsitar village in Surankot area and had escaped from the spot with the help of locals/OGWs.
    In the wake of the terror attack on IAF convoy, Security Forces have rounded up more than twenty persons for questioning and on their identification also released a poster carrying sketches of two terrorists with a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to their identification/arrest.
    Security Forces have also retrieved a few pictures of the alleged terrorists from CCTV footage in the area and are also in process for their identification.
    Terror attack on IAF convoy on May 4 was the second major terrorist attack on Security Forces in Poonch district after 20 April 2023 attack (ambush) on an Army vehicle near Tota Gali on Jammu-Poonch highway in which five soldiers had attained martyrdom.

    RAJOURI DELHI, May 09:–Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane on Thursday inaugurated a two-day National Symposium & Industry Meet on ‘Emerging Technologies in Infrastructure Development’ being organised by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
    The participants from the Armed Forces, academia, industry and DRDO attended the event.
    The event is aimed at fostering dialogue, exchanging knowledge, and exploring innovative approaches to address the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies in infrastructure development in line with the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
    Defence Secretary emphasised on the need to achieve self-reliance in every field to deal with future challenges.
    “India is a country with a significant percentage of young population, and self-reliance will ensure gainful employment to them. There is no trusted trend in geopolitics, and India cannot depend on other countries for its security & safeguarding national interests,” said Giridhar Aramane.

    JAMMU MAY 09:--(KNO): BJP’s National General Secretary, Tarun Chugh, has accused prominent families like Gandhi-Nehru and Abdullah-Mufti of perpetuating a system of plunder rather than democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.

    According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) correspondent, speaking during a tour of Poonch, Chugh didn’t hold back as he lambasted these influential families, describing them as a curse on democracy. He drew parallels between their dynastic rule and a hereditary monarchy, denouncing their grip on power as detrimental to the democratic process.

    Accompanied by notable figures such as former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh and State President Ravinder Raina, Chugh convened a significant meeting at the BJP district office. As per the party spokesman, the gathering aimed to strategize and galvanize party functionaries and booth heads in preparation for the impending elections.

    During the meeting, Chugh took aim at Farooq Abdullah, urging him to desist from assuming the role of Pakistan’s spokesperson. He rebuked Abdullah for recent statements regarding Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities, asserting India’s sovereignty over every inch of territory, particularly in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Chugh also criticized the tendency of certain politicians, including Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah, to praise Pakistan and China.

    JAMMU MAY 09 (PTI) The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) to track down terrorists responsible for attacking an IAF convoy, which claimed the life of a corporal rank personnel, entered the sixth day on May 9.

    Security forces, including the Army, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have further intensified combing and search operation in nearly 20 square km area in Surankote belt.

    Terrorists targeted an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Shaistar area of Poonch district, resulting in the killing of an IAF corporal and injuries to four others on May 4.

    “Armed with surveillance equipment, including drones and sniffer dogs, the search operation is under way in Shahsitar, Gursai, Sanai, Lasana, and Sheendara top in the Surankote belt and adjoining areas in Poonch district,” the officials said.

    “The security forces are seeking identification of the terrorists, whose three to four pictures — probably retrieved from the CCTV footage in the area — are public now,” the officials said.

    “Posters offering a cash reward of ₹20 lakh for any information leading to the arrest of the two individuals, believed to be the prime suspects, have also been put up in Surankote,” they said.

    “According to the officials, 26 persons have been detained for questioning and the authorities are reviewing some CCTV footage for leads. The search operation by the security forces, launched on Tuesday, is also under way in Sada and Kandi areas of Rajouri district,” they said. (PTI)

    RAJOURI, MAY 09: –The District SVEEP Team Rajouri, under the supervision of District Election Officer, Om Prakash Bhagat today organized a mega awareness rally here at Koteranka.

    The event aimed to enhance voter awareness and participation in the electoral process.

    The District Election Officer, Additional Dy. Commissioner Koteranka , the College Principal, Principal GHSS Koteranka, Tehsildar Koteranka, Zonal Education Officer Koteranka were present at the event.

    Dr. Anwar Shah, Principal of the college, extended a warm welcome to the attendees and expressed gratitude to the District SVEEP team for organizing such a significant event in the area.

    SVEEP team member, Mohammad Ayaz Raina, lecturer, administered the voters’ pledge, which was solemnly undertaken by all attendees.

    District Election Officer Om Prakash Bhagat emphasized the pivotal role of voters in a democratic framework, urging all participants to propagate the message of SVEEP to every household to achieve the target of 75% voter turnout set by the Election Commission. He appreciated all the members of District SVEEP team for their active involvement in carrying SVEEP related activities across the District.

    Prof. Mohammad Iqbal Raina thanked all attendees and their heads for their mass participation in the programme.

    The main programme, held at Government Degree College Koteranka, saw active participation from all. SVEEP team members including Prof. Manzoor Dar, Dr. Shajjad Mir, lecturer and Aftab Shawl master provided logistic support during the event.

    Subsequently, a rally themed on SVEEP was inaugurated by District Election Officer Rajouri, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, staff of the college and HSS Koteranka, Asha workers, and prominent citizens. Participants displayed placards with various messages advocating the public’s right to vote and the importance of voting.

    The rally commenced from Degree College Koteranka and culminated at the main chowk Koteranka.
