    SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 08:–Prominent Social Activist Shabnum Khan has strongly condemned the killing of Sikh worker Amritpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar and injuries to another non-local worker identified as Rohit, aged 25 from Punjab by terrorists in the Habba Kadal area of Srinagar city on Wednesday. “I strongly condemn the barbaric killing of Sikh man by terrorists. A befitting reply should be given to the perpetrators of heinous crime on innocent people,” Shabnum said. She termed the news shocking saying words of condemnation are not enough for this inhuman act of terror but I pray for the departed soul to rest in peace,” she added. Shabnum said Kashmiris are sick of death and destruction unleashed by radicals. They wish to live in peace and pick up peaceful life and ensure no more Kashmiris or non-locals are killed by terrorists. Kashmir calls for peace and sustainable inclusive development for the betterment of future generations. Shabnum said, “I am deeply saddened to know about the barbaric killing of Amritpal Singh. The bereaved family has my deepest sympathies and unwavering support. Words of condemnation and condolence ring hollow as do the assurances of the government on safeguarding the lives of people. This killing yet again raises the troubling question on the security apparatus and the law and order situation in Kashmir.”“Any killing, especially a targeted killing, is a matter of grave concern and condemnable. We condemn it,” Shabnum said. Shabnum said every targeted killing was condemnable, be that of a Kashmiri Pandit or a Muslim or a Sikh and whether the victim was from Kashmir or Jammu.I wonder what the killers want to achieve by shedding the blood of innocent civilians. Such acts of terror should be condemned in strongest possible terms by one and all. The perpetrators of this brutal crime must be nabbed and brought to be booked, added Shabnum”

    During the tour, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat diligently inspected several key developmental projects, including the Eco-tourism park at Kandi, where work has stalled due to financial constraints. Recognizing the inherent tourism potential of the region, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat earnestly appealed to the local populace to rally behind the district administration in bolstering tourism endeavors, particularly emphasizing the significance of the homestays scheme initiated by the Government.

    Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri also undertook a meticulous assessment of potential sites for the construction of the Government Degree College building at Koteranka, engaging in thorough discussions with concerned stakeholders to ensure expedited progress in this vital educational endeavor. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to facilitating the establishment of the GDC building for the benefit of the local populace.

    In addition, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat visited the site earmarked for the construction of the Eklavya Model Residential School at Hubbi, where certain local issues had arisen. Swift to address challenges hindering progress, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Tehsildar to promptly resolve the matter, underscoring the administration’s resolve to commence construction without delay.

    Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner paid a visit to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Koteranka, where he engaged with both staff and students, encouraging them to aspire for greatness and diligently pursue their ambitions. Responding to concerns raised by the staff, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat assured timely redressal, reaffirming the administration’s unwavering commitment to quality education.

    At the community health center in Kandi, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring top-notch healthcare services for the public, urging medical staff to redouble their efforts in delivering quality care to the community. He also inspected the ongoing work on building of CHC Kandi.

    Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Koteranka-Khawas road project, a transformative infrastructure initiative poised to significantly enhance connectivity and socio-economic development across the region. With an estimated cost of Rs 68 crores, spanning over 30.2 kilometers, this pivotal project holds immense promise in uplifting the lives of local residents.

    Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat visited the fish farm at Phalni, where trout fish is cultivated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to diversifying economic opportunities and promoting sustainable practices in the region.

    Officers who accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during his visit were SE PWD(R&B) Devi Dayal, EXEN PWD (R&B) Sardar Khan, Tehsildar Sahil Shah, and other officers and officials.
