    RAJOURI FEBRUARY 02:–An awareness camp was organised on Friday by the Civil Defence Rajouri at high school Sankari-2 under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jabeen Akhter.
    The awareness program was organised on Disaster Management and live demonstration was given to the students, with their participation, on first aid, firefighting etc by the Civil Defence experts.
    The main emphasis of the demonstration by the trainers is to make the learners aware about how to handle any calamity and avoid turning it into a disaster, to reduce the loss of life with effective micromanagement in the early hours of any misshaping, the skills demonstrated to revive the individual through CPR are very effective in the golden hours of any tragedy.
    The rescue techniques were effectively demonstrated which were very prudent in rescue by making use of ordinary ropes and readily available stuff like cots, chairs, and wooden logs. This informative session helps learners in their lifelong skills.
    The main objective of the awareness program is to sensitize students and staff members on precautionary measures during natural or man-made calamities.
    A lecture was delivered on the topics of Disaster Management by the experts of Civil Defence.
    Staff of the school appreciated the role of Civil Defence in spreading awareness about disaster management and rescue. They requested to organize such programs also in future.

    JAMMU FEBRUARY 02(GNS) Police on Friday said that two police officials were suspended while as Station House Officer was attached after a person died in mysterious condition in custody in Jammu district.

    In a handout to GNS, the police said that the incident of custodial death which occurred on 31.01.2024 at P/S Gandhi Nagar.The deceased has been identified as Sahil Saini S/o Romesh Saini R/o Nagri, Kathua who was arrested in case FIR No. 20/2024 u/s 457/380 IPC of P/S Gandhi Nagar, Jammu on 30.01.2024 and was on 04 days Police remand as per the order of Learned 3rd Additional Munsiff Court, Jammu.

    The police spokesman further stated that district Police Jammu suspended two officials and attached SHO Gandhi nagar to DPL, showing its commitment to a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The District Magistrate Jammu has been requested for initiating Magisterial Enquiry into the incident.

    As per standard protocol, the dead body of the accused was shifted to GMC, Bakshi Nagar Jammu and request has been made for constitution of Board of Doctors for conducting autopsy in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class to determine the cause of death, he said.

    JAMMU FEBRUARY 02:–Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police R R Swain has called for a strict and well-planned action against the criminals involved in drug peddling in the Union Territory.

    “The (narcotic) trade is extremely dangerous, as it not only destroys the younger generation but also being used to generate funds to support terrorist activities,” Swain said, addressing a monthly crime review meeting here on Thursday.

    He directed the officers to take strict and well-planned action against the criminals involved in the drug trade.

    The DGP also directed them to maintain the record of drug peddlers as well as of drug consumers so that action is initiated in a more comprehensive manner, a police spokesperson said.

    Swain impressed upon the officers to make a ‘master list’ of repeatedly offending vehicles and also directed for indexing of drivers and vehicles found involved in transportation of drugs.

    He stressed on the classification of victims, peddlers and dealers and impressed upon the officers to look forward and background linkages benefiting from the past experiences.
    During the meeting, the spokesperson said several crucial aspects of improving the investigation and disposal of crime cases particularly drugs and bovine smuggling were deliberated upon.

    “The crime picture of a district or zone should highlight the rate of disposal and quality of disposal of the crime cases registered, and to improve the efficiency of crime disposal, we must create a comprehensive, up-to-date and accurate database of the criminals,” the DGP said.
    “A robust crime case database will help in utilising the data for investigations,” Swain said.

    The DGP directed the officers to take strict action against bovine smugglers, as the trade is often associated with various other unlawful activities including transportation of criminals and unlawful material.

    “Strict action must be initiated against the vehicle owners whose vehicles are repeatedly used for the trade,” he said.

    As an added incentive to motivate the officers, the DGP announced that those who demonstrate exceptional performance in the investigations would be rewarded as best district and best police station. (Agencies)

    RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 02-– Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Om Prakash Bhagat on Friday chaired a crucial meeting to assess the progress of ongoing projects in the health and education sectors within the district.

    The Chief Medical Officer provided a comprehensive overview of the health sector projects, detailing 42 ongoing works funded through district Capex, UT Capex, TSP, BADP, NABARD, and UT Capex. The CMO diligently briefed about the physical and financial progress of each project, highlighting the collective effort to enhance healthcare infrastructure.

    Shifting focus to the education sector, the meeting revealed that work is underway on a total of 53 projects in elementary and secondary Education, with 15 already completed. Under UT Capex, out of 12 projects, 04 projects are complete.

    The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of educational initiatives in fostering community development and directed officers to prioritize these projects.

    In his address, Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat stressed the importance of adhering to set timelines and maintaining high-quality standards in project execution. He directed them to expedite the completion of pending projects to maximize community benefits.

    He directed Executive Engineers to mobilize additional resources for timely project completion and ensure efficient resource utilization. He also sought timely identification and resolution of developmental bottlenecks for public interest.

    The meeting was attended by the CPO, Mohammad Khurshid, SE PWD (R&B) Devi Dayal, ACD, Vijay Kumar, CMO Dr Rajinder Sharma, EXEN of PWD (R&B) Rajouri Sardar Khan, EXEN of PWD (R&B) Nowshera VK Raina, and EXEN of Rural Engineering Wing (REW) Zahir Khan.

    RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 02:–Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Om Prakash Bhagat, in a proactive and hands-on approach to advance the infrastructural development in Rajouri, embarked on a detailed on-site visit to the proposed location earmarked for the construction of the Mini Secretariat building.

    The visit was rich in direct observation and assessment, marking a pivotal moment in the trajectory of the project.

    He was accompanied by the Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid, SE PWD(R&B), Devi Dayal; Tehsildar Rajouri, Varinder Sharma; Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (R&B) Rajouri, Sardar Khan

    The Deputy Commissioner conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the expansive 88 kanal and 14 marla land slated for the Mini Secretariat. The objective was clear – to meticulously inspect and gauge various aspects that would contribute to the success and efficiency of this crucial infrastructural endeavor.

    During the on-site visit, emphasis was placed on crucial factors such as accessibility, environmental impact, and the potential for future expansion.

    The Deputy Commissioner, through this inspection, aimed to ensure that the selected site aligns seamlessly with the vision of the Mini Secretariat as a central hub for government departments, streamlining administrative processes, and significantly improving public service delivery in Rajouri. Additionally he also asked the concerned officer from the PWD (R&B) to prepare the DPR for the mini secretariat building at the earliest.

    This on-site visit, led by Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat, is a landmark step forward in the realization of the Mini Secretariat project. It stands as a testament to the commitment of the administration to ensure that the construction aligns with the needs and aspirations of the people of Rajouri.

    RAJOURI FEBRUARY 02:–Jammu & Kashmir Police, in its continued drive against absconders, nabbed an absconders in Rajouri , who was evading his arrest since long.

    The apprehended absconder has been identified as Mohd Kabir S/O Firoz Din R/O Nirojal area of Thanamandi.

    Notably the apprehended absconder was wanted in Case FIR No. 62/2010 registered under Section 380/457 RPC of Police Station Nowshera.

    Police team of PS Nowshera led by SHO Nowshera raided at different suspected locations in Rajouri and in one such raid arrested the absconder from Rajal area of Nowshera.
