    DDC Chairman reviews developmental scenario in District Rajouri

    RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 01:–District Development Council Chairman Rajouri, Advocate Naseem Liyaqat on Thursday chaired a crucial meeting to review the developmental scenario of the district here at a joint meeting with DDC Members and officers hled in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak bungalow.

    Vice Chairperson District Development Council Shabir Khan and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Om Prakash Bhagat were also present in the meeting.

    The CEO District Development Council Pawan Kumar highlighted accomplishments under the District Capex Budget, SSY, APDP, ABDP, TSP, and UT Capex. The Chairman directed the BDOs to meet set deadlines for physical and financial targets. It was informed that a substantial progress has been achieved under PMAY-G and Awas Plus with the completion of 36,648 houses out of the target of 62,343.

    Turning attention to the Health Sector, the DDC Chairman reviewed the status of 42 works, directing executing agencies to expedite progress. The meeting was further told that 400 works out of 434 works have been completed by Ground Water and Drilling division .

    During the deliberations, the DDC Members also raised crucial issues of their respective areas and sought repair of roads, augmentation of water supply in areas facing scarcity, amplification of healthcare infrastructure, construction of new roads, provision of electricity poles, repair of handpumps, speedy implementation of JJM schemes and RDSS, completion of work on Badala Mang Bridge and circular road, augmentation of power infrastructure, strengthening of receiving stations etc. The Chairman passed necessary directions to the concerned officers for the early redressal of the issues.

    Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat emphasized the importance of a cohesive partnership between administration and elected public rperesenattaives. He encouraged DDC members to work side by side with the administration, leveraging their collective expertise and local insights to contribute significantly to the overall progress and well-being of the district. Additionally, DC Om Prakash Bhagat directed officers to expedite the pace of progress and adhere to the set timelines for ongoing projects so that necessary benefits are provided to the general public with the completion of the projects.

    The DDC Chairman directed the officers to enhance efforts in implementing government schemes on the ground and ensure maximum benefits for the public. Emphasizing coordination between officers and public representatives, he aimed for better results in developmental works and infrastructure creation.

    He directed Executive Engineers to mobilize additional resources for timely project completion and ensure efficient resource utilization. The Chairman sought timely identification and resolution of developmental bottlenecks for public interest. Furthermore, the DDC Chairman, Advocate Naseem Liyaqat highlighted the need for the 2024-25 financial year plan to be formulated in strict accordance with the consensus of DDC Members, emphasizing a collaborative and inclusive decision-making process.

    The DDC Chairman also proposed the construction of chowks in the city to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance safety measures to prevent incidents. This strategic suggestion aims at improving traffic flow and overall urban planning. Additionally, the Chairman emphasized the need for the construction of GDC Koteranka, highlighting its significance in addressing developmental requirements and catering to the educational needs of the community.

    Furthermore, the Chairman directed the concerned officers to prioritize and expedite the installation of handpumps, emphasizing the importance of swift completion. This directive underscores the commitment to providing essential services like clean water to the community promptly, ensuring the well-being of residents in the district. He also emphasized the need for timely repair of handpumps. Stressing the importance of functional handpumps for community well-being, these instructions aimed at ensuring swift and efficient maintenance to address any issues promptly.

    In conclusion, the comprehensive joint meeting underscored the commitment of the district administration and DDC Members to accelerate the pace of development in Rajouri. The emphasis on timely project completion, resource optimization, and community involvement reflects a holistic approach towards sustainable growth and improving the quality of life for the residents of the district.

    SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 01:– (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday suspended a Medical Officer and initiated action against another for dereliction of duties.

    As per two separate orders issued by the Health and Medical Education (H&ME), the copies of which are in possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr Nadeem Ahmad Tantray has been placed under suspension while an action has been initiated against Dr Zahoor Ahmad for dereliction of duties.

    An order issued in this regard, reads that pending enquiry into his conduct, dereliction of duties, Dr Nadeem Ahmed Tantray is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect in terms of rule 31 of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, control and appeal rules, 1956).

    During the period of suspension, Dr Tantray shall remain attached with the office of Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar.

    The Director Health Services, Jammu shall immediately deploy two doctors on an internal arrangement basis to ensure that the institution, PHC, Afti, remains fully functional by way of availability of doctors.

    Meanwhile, in a separate order, the government said that an action has been initiated against Dr Zahoor Ahmad, Medical officer (RBSK), National health Mission, J&K.

    The order reads, pending enquiry into his conduct Dr Zahoor Ahmad is hereby attached in the office of Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar with immediate effect.

    The Mission Director, NHM J&K shall immediately initiate the process of termination of service of the said doctor for dereliction of duties.

    Notably, three persons died while another was injured after a snow cutter machine met with an accident in Warwan area of Kishtwar yesterday.

    Pertinently, locals said that soon after an accident, the injured were shifted to health center Afti- Inshan but no doctor was present there on the duty following which they staged a demonstration against the health department for the absence of doctors from health facility—(KNO)

    RAJOURI FEBRUARY 01:–Rajouri Police, in its continued drive of tracing missing persons, traced another missing lady today.
    While sharing details, Police disclosed the particulars of traced lady as Priya Sharma W/o Rameshwar Khajuria R/o Kallar area of District Rajouri.

    Police further disclosed that the lady was reported as missing on 31st January & accordingly a missing report vide DDR No.07 Dated 31/01/2024 was registered at PS Rajouri.

    A special team comprising of I/C PP Chingus and other officials of Police Post Chingus traced the missing lady after strenuous efforts from Nowshera area of District Rajouri within 36 hours of missing.

    SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 01:–Chairperson Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi yesterday reviewed the facilities and the management at ziyarat Peer Dastagir Sahib (RA) at Khayar Srinagar. She was accompanied by Waqf Board Member Syed Mohammad Haqqani and the Executive Magistrate of the Board Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin. Dr Andrabi later laid the foundation stone for Noor Khana at the shrine and also inaugurated the utility complex after it’s completion. During her visit Waqf Chairperson interacted with the people visiting the shrine, the local Waqf management and the people representing different social groups. She emphasized on more and more transparency and cleanliness at all such places of reverence. Dr Andrabi spoke to media during her visit and briefed about the development works of Waqf Board. “We are now upgrading and updating the facilities at all spiritual shrines throughout J&K and people are witness to the fact that Waqf Board is fulfilling its commitment to give people better facilities at all shrines. Constitution works are on at all major such major places of reverence and the public feed back guides us”, said Dr Andrabi. She said that we have been able to do everything with public support for which we are highly thankful.
    Later Dr Andrabi visited the shrine of Hazarat Syed Hassan Mantaqi (RA) in Awantipora and inaugurated the grand gateway at the shrine. Dr Andrabi took stock of the Waqf properties there and instructed the executive authorities to make a roadmap of the required infrastructure for public welfare on priority. Dr Andrabi said that public feedback helps us a lot in planning things for development.
