    RAJOURI DDECEMBER 03:–Samagra Shiksha J&K organised an impressive function/ cultural event at Teachers Bhawan Jammu to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
    Principal Secretary (PS), School Education Department (SED), Alok Kumar was the Chief Guest while on Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department (SWD), Sheetal Nanda was a special invitee in the event.
    Others who attended the celebrations include Project Director (PD) Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj; Director School Education (DSE) Jammu, Ashok Kumar Sharma; Special Secretary, Kanta Devi; Special Secretary, Anu Behl; &JD SED, Subha Mehta.
    Specially abled children from various schools across the UT showcased their extraordinary talent while performing cultural/other items.
    The program started with the National Anthem, by the Specially abled children in Sign Language which mesmerized the audience with a patriotic emotion.
    Deep Raj presented the welcome address, wherein he briefed about the different initiatives taken for welfare of Children with Special Needs under Inclusive Education scheme of Samagra Shiksha.
    “Efforts are being made to encourage Specially abled children to attend school as special educators /resource teachers engaged to impart education to them. Braille Books have also been got printed by the Samagra Shiksha and stands shared with the concerned stakeholders. Presently 21000 children with Special needs (CWSN) getting education in the schools,” said Deep Raj.
    Special exposure tours and sports activities have been organised for the CWSN in the current year across the UT.
    “Specially abled children are having lot of potential. SED and SWD jointly taking several initiatives for upliftment of such students who are enrolled in government Schools,” said Sheetal Nanda.
    She aware the people to take benefits of the scheme initiated by SWD for the welfare of CWSN.
    The aim of IDPD is to encourage the specially abled students. The Specially abled students must be renamed as Specially Talented students, who performed on the stage at par with professional people. All the facilities shall be provided under Inclusive Education to such children so that they may excel in their life and may fight with the challenges they face,” said Alok Kumar.
    He added that skill development courses shall be made available for these specially abled students, so that they may earn their livelihood.
    “Under Samagra Shiksha, 64 fully equipped Resource Rooms have been constructed wherein 83 Special Educators/ Resource Persons are working for providing educational as well as therapeutic support to CWSN. Assessments Camps are being organized in all 188 Zones and free aids/appliances are distributed among the CWSN,” said Alok Kumar.
    “4990 Children, have been provided Assistive devices under Samagra Shiksha in the current year in collaboration with ALIMCO. More than, 2.35 Crores have been disbursed to CWSN on account of allowances during current year through DBT Mode. Besides, 550 CWSN toilets have also been constructed in the government schools for the facilitation of CWSN,” he added.
    Felicitation of specially abled children, in the field of academics, fine arts, sports or other fields was also part of the event.
    Vijay Singh, State Coordinator (IE) presented vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all participants.

    RAJOURI/BUDHAL DECEMBER 03:–Monthly Boaed meeting of The Budhal Walnut and Horti Producers Co-operative Ltd (FPO) under the chairmanship of Mohd Farooq has been held at Kewal yesterday deliberated on Draft Policy & Operational Guidelines for Collective Farming in District Rajouri particularlyin Budhal Block, and Draft Policy on Procurement of Horti products through establishment of village wise collection Centres.

    Draft Policy and Operational Guidelines for Collective Farming in Budhal and envisages pooling of farmers land and resources to derive benefits of large-scale farming and helping small and marginal farmers overcome constraints in mobilising credit, adopting latest technologies and adding value to their produce. Under the initiative, collective farming would be encouraged by Farmers Producer Organisation which will enable small and marginal farmers of FPO consolidate their holdings, without changing the ownership of land and resources to get the benefit of large scale farming.

    Draft Policy on Procurement of Walnuts as major product through collection centres in Budhal Block aims at facilitating successful operation of Modern marketing system through further institutional support measures to make its service beneficial to the horti farmers.

    The Board meeting, attended by its Diroctors Pervaiz Ahmed Malik, Shamim Ahmed, Layaqat Ali, Koushalya Devi, Liaqet Ali, Mohd Yousaf and its members, discussed various businesses related FPO.

    RAJOURI, DECEMBER 03:–The District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the Social Welfare, Health and District Legal Service Authority today organized a grand program to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and promote their rights and inclusion in society.

    The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal. The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “United in Action to Rescue and Achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) for, with, and by Persons with Disabilities.” The theme emphasized the importance of collective efforts to address the needs and aspirations of persons with disabilities.

    Several speakers took the stage to address the audience and shed light on the significance of the day.

    Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Government to ensure the welfare of persons with disabilities. He highlighted the numerous measures implemented by the government to support and empower persons with disabilities.

    Among the measures mentioned by the Deputy Commissioner were financial assistance in the form of pensions, free education, free medical treatment, free travel facilities, vocational programs, and other essential services. These initiatives have significantly contributed to the well-being and improved the quality of life for a large number of persons with disabilities in the district.

    Vikas Kundal further emphasized that the Government has taken special measures to promote the socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities. Efforts are being made to create an inclusive environment where persons with disabilities can actively participate in society and contribute to its progress.

    Advocate Ashfaq Lone explained the legal rights and special measures being taken by the Government to realize the goal of socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.

    Speaking at the commemoration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Rahim, shed light on the multitude of welfare measures being implemented by government departments in the district to support persons with disabilities. These measures encompass a wide range of initiatives, including the provision of pensions to ensure financial assistance, the distribution of prosthetic aids to enhance mobility and independence, and other essential support services. He also informed that 9781 specially abled persons are taking benefits under disability pension from the social welfare department while 216 scooties have been distributed during this financial year. He further added that 945 prosthetic appliances will be distributed among the specially abled persons soon in the district

    The International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration in Rajouri has undoubtedly contributed to raising awareness, promoting inclusivity, and fostering a more empathetic and supportive community for persons with disabilities.

    Later, momentos were also presented to the participating students as a symbolic recognition of their contribution and engagement during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration in Rajouri. In addition to this, disability certificates were also distributed among the persons with disabilities.

    RAJOURI, DECEMBER 03:–As a part of the ongoing special summary revision and in a remarkable display of commitment towards inclusivity and empowerment, the Election Department today organized a special program in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow to enroll eligible specially abled persons as voters.

    The event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal. The event witnessed an overwhelming response as 22 persons with disabilities were enrolled on the spot, with their application forms being received by the Deputy Commissioner himself. The program also aimed to raise awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities and encourage their active participation in the electoral process.

    The specially abled persons who enrolled as voters during the program exemplify the spirit of determination and active citizenship. By taking this important step, they have paved the way for their voices to be heard and their opinions to shape the democratic process. Their participation serves as an inspiration to others, highlighting the importance of being an active and engaged member of society.

    Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas kundal, who is also the District Election Officer, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiastic response received from the specially abled individuals. He personally received their application forms, symbolizing the commitment of the Election Department to ensure a seamless and efficient enrollment process.

    Deputy Commissioner Vikas kundal also highlighted that ramp facilities have been established at all polling stations. This crucial step ensures that specially-abled individuals can participate in the voting process without facing any difficulties.

    The District Administration Rajouri will continue its endeavors to reach out to more persons with disabilities, encouraging them to exercise their right to vote and contribute to the democratic fabric of our nation. By ensuring that the voices of all citizens are heard, the District Administration strives to build a society that upholds the principles of equality, justice, and inclusivity.

    Among the others, Election Naib Tehsildar, Surjeet Singh and officials of the Election Department were present on the occasion.
