    RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 29:–Project Director Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj; Director School Education (DSE) Kashmir, Dr Tassaduq Hussain; DSE Jammu, Ashok Kumar Sharma on Wednesday jointly inaugurated 2-days Union Territory Level Kala Utsav-2023 event at Teacher Bhawan in Jammu.
    The cultural extravaganza-showcasing the extraordinary talent of students from across the UT, is organised by the Samagra Shiksha, Department of School Education J&K.
    Kanta Devi, Special Secretary, Kanta Devi; Secretary JK BOSE, Manisha Sareen; Special Secretary, Anu Behl; Joint Director Planning, Parshotam Kumar; Joint Director SED, Subha Mehta; Deputy Director Planning, Bilal Rashid; CEO Jammu, Jagdish Padha; DDP, Mamta Sharma; & CAO, Monika Bhandari was among others present in the event.
    The program started with the National Anthem; traditional lamp lighting was followed by ethnic Dogra turbans (Pagris) tying ceremony.
    Students of HSS Shastri Nagar presented Sarswati Vandana which was followed by the cultural performances to reflect the cultural flavours of different socio-geographical regions of J&K.
    Students belonging to different districts, who performed at their best at Divisional Level Kala Utsav Competitions, are participating to perform 40 items in the 2-days event to showcase their mesmerizing performances.
    He said that the “Best among them under various categories of art forms, one male and one female (in each category), shall be shortlisted for National level event which is scheduled in the month of December 2023 at New Delhi” said Deep Raj.
    Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Deep Raj further reiterated that “Samagra Shiksha focuses more on holistic approach towards providing quality education integrated with art & culture, sports, and other domains in alignment with New Education Policy-2020,” he added.
    He further said that Kala Utsav encompasses a complete process of identifying, exploring, practicing, evolving, and understanding our tangible and intangible cultural expressions, which enables the participants to live the complete cultural experience besides enhancing variegated skills of the participants and preparing them as ambassadors of our culture.
    Two students of the UT J&K bagged positions in the National Level Kala Utsav Competition held at Orissa last year.
    DSE Kashmir, Dr. Tassaduq Hussain, congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to put their best efforts for final performances at the national level.
    “Government of India implementing various schemes for providing better platforms to children for showcasing their talent in different fields. Teachers and parents should avail maximum benefit out of these schemes for overall nurturing of their children,” he said.
    DSE Jammu, Ashok Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Samagra Shiksha and both the Directorates of School Education, for the selections made at zonal, district & divisional level.
    The live telecast of the programme was streamed on the official You tube Channel and virtually attended by all the students and teachers at various schools across the UT.
    The dignitaries also declared open an array of cultural activities including art exhibition, traditional craft display and interactive performances of students in various art forms.

    Says administration committed to addressing pressing issues brought forward by people

    RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 29:– Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, Shailendra Kumar today chaired a Public Darbar here at Sunderbani.

    Several issues were brought to the fore during the event which include lack of internal connectivity in border Panchayats, opening of a J&K Bank Branch at Beri Patan, MGNREGA payments, sports stadium at every Panchayat, inclusion of left out eligible beneficiaries under PMAY-G etc.

    Among others District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal; and several DDC Member, Sarpanchs, Panchs and general public in huge numbers from the district attended the event.

    Other issues which were put forth include: sanctioning funds under different schemes, irregular water supply, speedy execution of works under JJM, sanctioning of a veterinary centre at panchayat Thandapani, construction of a road to panchayat Ghar Hathal-B, completion of pending work on SDH Sunderbani, construction of girls hostel at GDC Sunderbani, completion of work on road from Thandapani to Terayth and bridge at Salheri, construction of the road from Mangla Mata Mandir to Peer Shalakh Ziarat, sanctioning additional border bunkers and many more.

    Speaking at the event, the Principal Secretary said that the administration is committed to addressing the pressing issues brought forward by people.

    He emphasized that the top priority of the Government is to ensure that basic facilities and services are delivered to the general public in an efficient and timely manner.

    Shailendra Kumar reiterated his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of Rajouri. He reaffirmed that the government would take concrete actions to address the raised issues and work towards fulfilling the demands of the community.

    SRINAGAR NOVEMBER 29:–Police have arrested three persons for their involvement in illicit trade of counterfeit gold biscuits in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said today.

    On 28th November, Police Station Khansahib received information from reliable sources that a group of individuals are involved in illicit trade of counterfeit gold biscuits.

    “Acting swiftly, the suspected vehicle bearing registration number JK04F-5047 was intercepted near Gogjipathri Crossing in the Khansahib area with 03 persons on board,” said an official.

    They have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Ab. Ahad Dar resident of Malwa Kunzar, Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Gh Mohammad Dar resident of Arizal Khansahib and Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Jalalu Din Dar resident of Arizal Khansahib.

    During search, 239 counterfeit gold biscuits were recovered from their possession.

    During questioning, they were unable to substantiate the authenticity of the items and were arrested subsequently.

    Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.163/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahib and investigation has been initiated.

    SRINAGAR NOVEMBER, 29:–Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that action under law is being taken against social media users for sharing provocative content on social media handles and pages.

    Cyber Police Kashmir on X said: “Cyberpolicekmr has taken congnisance of instigative & provocative contents being shared on various social media handles/pages. Action under law is being initiated.”

    The police advised users to refrain from sharing provocative and inappropriate content.

    “All Social Media users are advised to refrain from sharing provocative & inappropriate content from their handles/pages @JmuKmrPolice @KashmirPolice @SrinagarPolice,” it added.

    SRINAGAR NOVEMBER 29:–Amid forecast for rain and snow, night temperature remained above normal at most places in Jammu and Kashmir. The weatherman has forecast “isolated very light rain and snow” in J&K during next 24 hours.

    For subsequent two days—November 29 and 30— widespread light to moderate Rain, thunderstorm and snow have been forecast across J&K. Also, the weatherman has forecast “yellow warning” for isolated thunderstorm and lightning in both Jammu and Kashmir region for these two days.

    There are four types of colour codes signifying the level of caution: green which means no action, yellow—situation to be watched, orange–government agencies need to be prepared for severe weather and red –action needed by the agencies.

    “From 1st-6th December, weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy,”a meteorological department official told GNS.

    Regarding temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 3.9°C against 3.5°C on the previous night and it was 4.8°C above normal for this time of the year in Srinagar.

    Qazigund recorded a minimum of 3.8°C against 2.6°C on the previous night, he said. The minimum temperature was 4.8°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, the official said.

    Pahalgam recorded a low of 1.2°C against 1.5°C on the previous night and it was 4.6°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.

    Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 2.8°C which was above normal for the place by 0.6°C, the official said.

    Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of 3.0°C which was 4.1°C above normal there, the official said.

    Gulmarg, the official said, recorded a low of minus 0.2°C and it was 2.9°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir.

    Jammu recorded a minimum of 11.1°C which was above normal by 0.8°C for the winter capital of J&K, he said. (GNS)
