    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 06-– Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal on Monday presided over a meeting of concerned officers to assess preparations for the ‘Fifth Phase of Back to Village Programme (B2V5)’.

The ‘Back to Village’ initiative is the flagship public outreach, participation, and feedback program of the Jammu and Kashmir Government. Threadbare discussion on a number of activities scheduled to be carried out during the program was held in the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal underlined the significant impact of the previous phases of the Back to Village program. He noted that these initiatives have been instrumental in identifying the specific needs and priorities of villages, allowing for the prioritization of essential public works, and ensuring the efficient last-mile delivery of different government services. Furthermore, the program has played a pivotal role in spreading awareness about the numerous government services and initiatives.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the stakeholder departments to mobilize the people for enthusiastic participation in the program, emphasizing that their involvement is imperative for the success of the program. He also encouraged all government officers to actively engage in B2V activities to achieve the specific objectives set for this phase.

The ‘Back to Village’ program has evolved over the years and is now an integral component of the Aspirational Panchayat Program. The primary aim of this program is to achieve the saturation of services and bridge the existing gap between the government and the people it serves.

The ‘Back to Village’ program has proven to be a pivotal means of promoting community engagement, strengthening government-citizen relations, and ensuring effective service delivery. As Jammu and Kashmir progresses in its commitment to the welfare of its citizens, the B2V5 program serves as a beacon of hope and progress, bringing the government closer to the people it serves.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajiv Kumar Khajuria; Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; Assistant Commissioner Development, Vijay Kumar; District Panchayat Officer, Auqil Nuvaid and other concerned officers.

No decision yet on alliance for J&K polls: Mehbooba Mufti

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

SRINAGAR NOVEMBER 06:–People”s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said no decision has been taken yet over contesting elections in Jammu and Kashmir in an alliance with other parties.
“No decision has been taken about that so far,” Mufti told reporters in Ganderbal district when asked if her party would contest the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, whenever they are held, in an alliance with the National Conference (NC) and Congress.

Asked about the recent terrorist attacks in the Valley that left a police personnel and a non-local labourer dead, and another police personnel in a critical condition, Mufti expressed regret over former Director General of Police Dilbag Singh”s remarks that the situation is normal in the Union Territory and there was no collateral damage in the last four years.

“I regret that the former DGP recently announced proudly that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is normal and there has been no collateral damage when three targeted attacks took place in those three days only.

“I fail to understand what is collateral damage for them. When a police personnel or a jawan or a labourer is killed, if that is not collateral damage, what is? What happened in Kokernag?” she asked.

An Army Colonel, a Major and a Deputy Superintendent of Police were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Kokernag in September.

The former Chief Minister wondered that if everything is fine in Jammu and Kashmir, “why have they snatched the freedom of the people here?”

“Why do you not allow people to talk? A huge massacre is happening in Gaza, Palestine, the Government has passed an order that imams (prayer leaders) cannot even pray for them, you cannot protest. The freedom of the people here has suffered the most damage in the last five years — the freedom of expression, the freedom to protest,” she added.

Mufti also said the Lieutenant Governor-led administration’s order warning its employees of disciplinary action if they resort to demonstrations and strikes is unfortunate.

“It is very unfortunate. On one hand you say everything is fine in Jammu and Kashmir and on the other, you are afraid of the voice of the people. What can we do when there are five lakh security forces personnel here? If the employees have problems regarding the GP fund, the provident fund, they would want to raise their voice, but you have banned that also. How will this work?” she asked.
