SRINAGAR NOVEMBER 01:–The District Administration Srinagar on Wednesday organized an impressive function at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here to honour and bid warm farewell to Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary, IAS, previously the Managing Director(MD) of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited(KPDCL), who has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban District.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad presided over the farewell function.
Chief Engineer, Power Development Department, Kashmir, Javaid Yousuf Dar, Additional District Development Commissioner, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Syed Ahmad Kataria, Chief Planning Officer, Srinagar, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, besides Superintending Engineers/Executive Engineers of PDD and other senior Officers of District Administration were present in the farewell function.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar lauded Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary for his work as Managing Director(MD) of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited(KPDCL), as Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama and Kargil districts respectively.
He extended best wishes for his future endeavours. He appreciated the efforts of the former MD KPDCL for the milestones that organization has achieved under his able guidance.
The DC also underscored the important role of the officer in accomplishment of many projects like Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and installation of smart meters.
All other Officers present at the function also extended their best wishes to the IAS Officer for his new assignment as Deputy Commissioner Ramban.
On the occasion, outgoing MD KPDCL, Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary thanked the District Administration Srinagar for organising an impressive farewell function in his honour. He also thanked the Officers for their active support and cooperation during his tenure and lauded the efforts of the District Administration under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar.
SRINAGAR NOVEMBER 01: –Over 1,000 militants were killed in Jammu and Kashmir during the tenure of former Director General of Police Dilbag Singh who retired from services on Tuesday, officials said.
Singh, who has the distinction of serving as the police chief of J-K for the longest tenure, had taken over as the DGP on September 7, 2018, at a time when the situation was full of challenges, they said. Under Singh’s leadership, the Jammu and Kashmir Police faced various challenges successfully including the abrogation of Article 370 and J-K’s reorganisation.
“During his tenure, around 1,055 terrorists were killed, 58 surrendered, and 1,448 terrorist supporters were arrested,” the officials said. During this period, the force was honoured with an Ashok Chakra, three Kirti Chakra, 13 Shaurya Chakra and 887 police medals, they added. The security situation in Jammu and Kashmir saw remarkable changes during Singh’s tenure, the officials said.
“For the first time during the last over three decades, there are no bandh calls and no hartals. Education and businesses are not disturbed, people are enjoying normal life and a number of good things are happening in the UT,” they said. The officials said during Singh’s service, 11,725 persons involved in the drug trade were arrested and 98,249 kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances were seized including 741 kg of heroin.
The investigation part of the J-K Police was also strengthened to a new level, they said.
New investigation units like the State Investigation Agency (SIA), Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) have been created, the officials added. (Agencies)

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 01:–In a proactive and community-oriented effort to address the concerns of the public, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kundal today presided over a highly successful public outreach camp in the Moughla block.
The event served as a platform for constructive dialogue, where both the public and their representatives raised a diverse array of issues, including the much-needed macadamization of roads, need for the upgradation and adequate staffing of government institutions, addressing the issue of scarcity of water and the augmentation of healthcare infrastructure, among other pertinent topics.
Specific demands raised during the event were road from Boman Gala to Potha Gala, road from Kanchi Morh to Simbal Gala, repair and renovation of different GMS Buildings, road from Simbal Gala to Loha Khater, provision of Electricity poles, upgradation of playground at Methayani etc.
Government officers also seized this opportunity to impart valuable information about various district-level schemes and programs being implemented to uplift the community, urging the public to actively engage and avail themselves of the benefits offered.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the District Administration to provide quality essential services to people at their doorstep. With regard to the road concerns in Harichuma and Treru, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned Executive Engineer (XEN) to expedite the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) without any further delay, underscoring the urgency of resolving this issue.
Furthermore, the issue pertaining to the PDD sector was raised, and in response, the Deputy Commissioner has instructed the concerned Executive Engineer (XEN) to actively pursue the matter within the RDSS Scheme, emphasizing the importance of addressing this concern promptly. Regarding the forest clearance issues for the development projects, the Deputy Commissioner assured that he will take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
During the public outreach camp, the local community expressed their appreciation for the commendable efforts of the district administration in implementing the schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, recognizing the significant impact and positive changes brought about by these initiatives.
In addressing the pressing issue of staff shortages in schools, the Deputy Commissioner has issued a directive to the CEO of the Education Department, emphasizing the need for a systematic staff rationalization to meet the growing demands. Likewise, concerning the shortfall in staff within the Health Department, immediate and efficient measures have been instructed to promptly resolve this matter.
The Deputy Commissioner not only reassured the public but also reaffirmed that delivering piped water connections to every household in the district is the paramount focus of the administration through the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He emphasised that the administration is relentlessly working towards making every possible effort to achieve this vital objective.
