    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 06;–Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh during his one-day visit to Rajouri on Wednesday while briefing the media said: “Properties of those terrorists from various parts of Union Territory of J&K, who fled to Pakistan to take shelter there, are being attached and the process will continue and will also cover Rajouri-Poonch districts.
    When asked about the strength of terrorists presently active in Rajouri-Poonch DGP said: “Exact data is not possible as they frequently change their positions however, information about 9-12 terrorists were active in both the districts out of which 3 were killed. Hunt for the remaining is on and all are believed to be foreigners”.
    DGP, Dilbag Singh also said that we will not allow the revival of terrorism, as Pakistan making desperate efforts to push terrorists from across the LoC, in Rajouri & Poonch. He also congratulated the Security Forces for recent successful operations against terrorists and especially praised the role of VDCs in helping the SFs against anti-terrorist operations.


    Accompanied by ADGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, and AIG (Training/Policy) J.S Johar; and in the presence of IGP CRPF, Sandeep Khirwar; DIG CRPF Ops Jammu Zone, Rakesh Sathi; DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal; SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh;& SSP Poonch, Vinay Kumar; DGP Dilbag Singh inaugurated Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) and a CCTV Control Room in Rajouri.
    While interacting with the officers and other personnel at CCTV control room, the DGP said: “Monitor the movement of suspect elements in the area minutely and carefully as such He said facilities have been introduced in J&K police to bring efficiency in the working of JK Police”.
    The DGP while chairing a security review meeting directed the officers to be more vigilant and keep pressure on the anti-national elements and their supporters. Identify the people and OGWs who support the anti-national elements and help sustain the terror ecosystem.
    “Synergy between the forces has always been useful in our Counter Terror grid. Communication at the grassroots level of all forces should be clear to achieve success against anti-national elements,” said DGP.
    The DGP also interacted with the VDC members, appreciated their cooperation & support to SFs & hoped they would continue their support in tracking the anti-peace elements and providing a better and more secure environment for the people.
    DGP, Dilbag Singh also released a book on terrorism compiled by Dr. Haseeb Mughal, DIG, Rajouri Poonch Range & the compilation has all terror-related Data since the inception of terrorism in RP Range and is the first of its kind to have complete control over the terror support network in the Range.
    DGP visited the Army Hospital to know the welfare of the personnel injured in the encounter (Reasi) and also met the family members of the injured personnel.
    The DGP said on 5th August encounter in a joint operation by the police VDC members & Army one terroris was killed in Khawas in Rajouri.

    “Some terrorists managed to escape during the encounter. Later one among them was found dead in adjoining Reasi district. Two days back 2 terrorists of the same group were spotted in Chasana area of Reasi & in a joint operation one was killed at Tulli & hunt for the second is still on” said DGP.
    The DGP congratulated J&K police, CRPF, Army for successful operations in the Rajouri-Poonch districts and said: “We will foil any attempt from across the LoC to revive terrorism in both the districts’.
    He added that security has been further augmented on borders and each and every terrorist in the area would be tracked down.
    “The Rajouri and Poonch border grid has been further strengthened to counter the attempts of Pakistan and its agencies. We have a list of terrorists who are natives of J&K and were operating in various parts of the UT but have fled to Pakistan to take refuge there. Their properties are being attached and the process will continue,” the DGP said.
    The DGP said that a close watch is being maintained on these terrorists as they continue to promote terrorism sitting across the LoC. There will be no mercy for them, he added. Every link of terrorists would be smashed, the DGP stated.
    With regard to drugs being supplied by Pakistan, the DGP said: “Pakistan is pushing the drugs along with arms and ammunition to raise funds for terror groups and added that a number of consignments have been seized and strict action is being taken against the involved persons,”.

    POONCH SEPTEMBER 06:–Skill development training courses to include Assistant Electrician, Plumber General, Self Employed Tailor, Domestic Data Entry Operator and Mobile Phone Hardware Repair Technician at IITM, Poonch in association with National skill development Corporation under Operation Sadbhavana starting from 05 Sep 2023.

    A total of 20 Boys and 15 Girls from remote villages of Poonch District will be trained upon the above mentioned certification courses for a period of 2 Months.

    Women in this area are generally homemakers or there engage in agriculture and animal husbandry activities. This initiative will help these women become self-reliant . Locals and village elders praised the efforts made by Indian Army to educate and encourage entrepreneurship amongst young boys and girls.

    NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 06:- Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pointing out that no agenda has been listed for the special Parliament session and raising nine issues, including violence in Manipur, for discussion.

    The issues listed by Gandhi included Centre-state relations, rise in cases of communal tension and border transgressions by China.

    “I must point out that this special session has been convened without any consultation with other political parties.

    None of us have any idea of its agenda. All we have been communicated is that all five days have been allocated for government business,” Gandhi said in her letter.

    “I earnestly hope that in a spirit of constructive cooperation, these issues will be taken up in the forthcoming special session,” she said.

    Addressing the media at the AICC headquarters, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said this is the first time that no agenda has been discussed or listed in the business of the House.

    “We want that the upcoming session is constructive and this was decided at the meeting of the strategy group and during the meeting of INDIA parties,” Ramesh said.

    “If there is no ‘shehnai’ of democracy in the mother of democracy, then what kind of democracy is this,” Ramesh asked.
    He said the rules under which the discussion can take place can be discussed mutually.

    Ramesh also alleged that the prime minister is in “panic” and “tired”.

    The special session of Parliament will be held from September 18 to 22. (Agencies)

    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 06:– In a remarkable demonstration of efficient governance and rapid issue resolution, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today led a highly successful public outreach event as part of the Weekly Block Diwas initiative here in the Old Tehsil Complex of Block Thannamandi.

    The event served as a vital platform for local residents and their representatives to voice their concerns and demands as they sought maintenance of roads, adequate staff in government institutions, addressing the problem of water scarcity and enhancement of the healthcare infrastructure. During the proceedings, government officials used the opportunity to inform attendees about ongoing schemes, encouraging community engagement and urging residents to take advantage of these initiatives.

    In his address, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to deliver essential services to the public in a seamless manner.

    Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner assured citizens that their grievances have been duly noted, and relevant departments would take incremental action to address legitimate concerns. Instant directives were issued to prioritize and resolve the issues raised on the occasion leading to on-the-spot resolutions of several matters.

    In a significant step towards addressing water scarcity, the Deputy Commissioner pledged to ensure functional tap water connections for every household in the district. This ambitious target will be met through the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing sustainable water supply. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of promptly addressing public grievances related to water supply and directed the XEN Jal Shakti Department to engage with the public and address their concerns promptly.

    Addressing the need for improved power supply, the Deputy Commissioner directed the XEN PDD to take effective measures to upgrade transformers. He called for active participation from all stakeholders to ensure the timely execution of necessary works.

    Deputy Commissioner assured the general public that 80% of the work in the Rajouri-Thannamandi- Surankote road will be completed by the next month. Responding to the pending pension cases, the Deputy Commissioner assured that it would be resolved within a week.

    Referring to the PMAY -G and Awas plus schemes, he assured general masses that new allocation underscores the commitment to expedite the construction of houses for deserving beneficiaries in the Thannamandi region.

    Concluding the event, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal emphasized the importance of sustained progress and collaboration among stakeholders, with the aim of enhancing residents’ quality of life. The successful Weekly Block Diwas in Thannamandi showcased numerous issues discussed and effectively resolved, earning praise from appreciative residents who acknowledged the administration’s dedication to issue resolution.

    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 06: –To intensify Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K campaign and foster transparent and accountable governance, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, today flagged off a promotional Van of the District Information Centre.

    In alignment with the Union Territory-wide campaign, the initiative seeks to galvanize the community against corruption and heighten awareness of the empowerment opportunities available through the Janbhagidari portal.

    The central focus of the campaign is to engage all segments of society, with particular emphasis on the rural population, through the organization of special Gram Sabha meetings across all Panchayats. The mobile van will serve as a conduit for disseminating information about the various online services available within the district, furthering the cause of creating a corruption-free environment in Jammu and Kashmir.

    Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal has outlined key areas of focus, including vital government departments such as Revenue, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDD), Public Works Department (PWD), and Power Development Department (PDD).

    The campaign prioritizes addressing grievances related to the Revenue Department, including land records, mutations, and demarcations, ensuring swift and effective resolution at the appropriate levels. The mobile van will traverse different locations, emphasizing that these essential services are now just at a click away through portals like e-Unnat, which offers more than 1000 services to the public.

    Furthermore, the mobile van will raise awareness among the general public about achieving full household tap connections, resolving electricity-related issues, and facilitating the resolution of land revenue matters. All complaints received during this week will receive overriding priority and prompt resolution.

    To facilitate the reporting and resolution of corruption-related grievances, special counters have been set up at the tehsil, block, and district levels.

    The “Bhrashtachar Mukht J and K Week” is more than just a campaign; it signifies a collective commitment to building a corruption-free and accountable society. Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal and the entire administration of District Rajouri are steadfast in their resolve to empower the people and uphold the principles of transparency and accountability.

    UT of Jammu & Kashmir gears up for holding Urban Local Bodies elections and in a first step towards this, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Monday (September 4) issued a notice unveiling a draft reservation proposal of 77 municipalities/ municipal councils.
    “In accordance with section 10-A of J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000 & section 11-A of J&K Municipal Act 2000, wards are to be reserved for women/scheduled castes/ scheduled tribes in the municipal bodies of the State” reads the CEO notice.
    It further reads: “Based on the population data, wards to be notified as reserved wards for SCs, STs, women (open category), women (SC category), & women (ST category) have been worked out. The CEO J&K invites objections/suggestions in relation to the aforesaid proposed notification. Any objections/suggestions should reach the CEO office, Nirvachan Bhawan Rail Head Complex, Jammu within 7 days from the issuance of this notice i.e. 9-9-2023 after which no objections/suggestions shall be entertained”.
    In the proposal, the number of reserved wards for women, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes in each ULB has been fixed on the basis of the prescribed ratio for each category under the municipal laws.
    As per the draft reservation proposal, 8 out of 17 wards of Rajouri Municipal Council will be reserved for women (open), SC & ST categories.
    Ward Numbers 2-7-10-11 & 15 are proposed to be reserved for women in the open category while Ward No. 5 is proposed reserved for women ST category.
    Ward No. 14 will be reserved for the SC category while Ward No. 1 is proposed reserved for the SC category.
    Earlier the elections for municipalities in J&K were held in four phases in September 2018. Presently UT of J&K has two municipal corporations, 19 municipal councils, and 57 municipal committees & their terms are ending in the months of November (2023) & January (2024).
