  • Aged woman’s body found in Koteranka, man killed in accident.

    RAJOURI, JUNE 22:–The body of an aged woman was found on the riverside in suspicious circumstances in the Kotranka sub-district, while a man was killed in an accident at Dandesar on the Jammu-Poonch highway under the jurisdiction of the Nowshera police station of Rajouri district.
    Sources said an old woman, namely Kali Begam w/o late Raj Mohd went missing on Wednesday from her house at village Larkuti under Kandi police station.
    After a day-long search in the area and relative’s houses, the family approached the police and accordingly, a missing report was lodged at the Kandi police station.
    On Thursday evening villagers spotted the body of Kali Begam on the bank of Ans River and informed the police.
    A police party rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the Community Health Center (CHC) at Kandi for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem.
    Police after post-mortem & other legal formalities handed over the body to the family for her last rites.
    The police started inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC in this matter.
    Meanwhile, in the late evening hours on Wednesday, a man identified as Gulshan Kumar s/o Ashwani Kumar resident of Bagnoti (Nowshera) killed when a car collided head-on with a Tempo on the Jammu-Poonch highway near Dandesar village.
    After medico-legal formalities, the police handed over the body to the family for his last rites and also lodged a case in this incident.

    RAJOURI, JUNE 22:–Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, IAS, on Thursday chaired a crucial meeting to discuss the activity plan and arrangements for the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

    It is pertinent to mention here that after several incidents of drug smuggling from across the LoC (PoJK) and the recovery of huge quantity of drugs, & narcotics during the last few months in the district, District Administration and the police is making every effort to fight against the growing menace and making the district drug free.

    Vikas Kundal reviewed the arrangements to be made for the event and discussed ways to ensure its success.He also sought cooperation from civil society members to curb the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the district.

    The meeting was attended by ADC Rajouri, Rajeev Kumar Khajuria; Project Officer ICDS, Shoket Mehmood Malik; ACP, Sheraz Chowhan; Chief Education Officer, Sultana Kouser; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; DPO Auqhil Nuvaid; DYSSO Sunil Samyal and other officers.
    Prominent citizens, including Bharat Bushan Vaid; Subash Sharma; Dinesh Sharma; Sushil Sharma; Sanjeev Mangu; Pushpinder Gupta; Rajesh Gupta; Sanjay Sharma and others were present during the meeting.

    Threadbare discussion was held on initiatives that could be taken to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.The DC, Vikas Kundal urged all stakeholders to work together towards creating a drug-free society and assured them of the district administration’s commitment towards this cause.
    All participants expressed their support and commitment towards this cause and pledged to work together towards creating a drug-free society.

    The District Administration is making every effort to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to promote a drug-free society.
    The civil society members also expressed their appreciation for the district administration and police administration’s efforts in curbing the menace of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the district.

    The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is an important occasion to reaffirm this commitment and renew our efforts towards this cause.
    “With the district administration’s commitment and the community’s support, the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking is sure to gain momentum, paving the way for a brighter and safer future,” said an official..

    HANDWARA JUNE 22:–Continuing its efforts against drug peddling, Handwara Police arrested one peddler and recovered narcotics in Vilgam area.

    On June 21, 2023, a police party of Police Station Vilgam, while on naka duty at Lilam crossing, apprehended one person who had attempted to avoid the police party in a suspicious manner.

    On search, around 01 kg of *Charas* like substance was recovered from his possession. The person has been identified as *Mohd Saleem Khan S/o Mushtaq Ahmad R/o Manzgam*.

    In relation to this, *FIR No.64/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act* registered in PS Vilgam and investigation initiated.

    واٹر سپلائی سکیم کیول لوئر کو 6 کروڑ روپے کی تخمینہ لاگت سے مکمل کیا جاٸے گا اور یہ کیول گاؤں کی پانی کی ضرورت کو پورا کرے گا۔

    واٹر سپلائی سکیم میں مختلف (انلیٹ ٹینک، سیڈیمنٹیشن ٹینک، سروس ریزروائرز، پمپ روم، لفٹ سسٹم) گریویٹی مین اور ڈسٹری بیوشن سسٹم کے لیے پائپوں کی بچھائی اور فٹنگ کا کام کیا جاٸے گا۔

    ڈبلیو ایس ایس کے موجودہ مالی سال 2022-23 کے دوران یہ کام مکمل ہونے کی توقع ہے اور اس کی تکمیل پر عوام کو گنجائش کے تحت پانی مقداری اور معیاری طور پر فراہم کیا جائے گا۔

    BUDHAL JUNE, 22 :–Sarpanch Gram Panchayat Kewal Lower Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi on Thursday inaugurated the work on Kewal Lower Water Supply Scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

    Farooq Inqlabi was accompanied by Superintending EngineerJal Shakti Department Rajouri Brahm Jyoti Sharma, XEN Jal Shakti department Rajouri Ashwani Khajuria, AEE Aijaz Mir, Supervisor Mohammad Rafiq, Social Activist Farooq Baba, Manir Hussain, local PRIs and general public of the area.

    It was informed that the Water supply scheme Kewal Lower is bieng developed at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore and shall cater to the water requirement of Kewal village.

    The water supply scheme has different components civil (Inlet tank, sedimentation tanks, service reservoirs, pump room) and laying and fitting of the pipes for gravity main and distribution system.

    The WSS is expected to be completed during the current financial year 2022-23 and on its accomplishment water shall be provided quantitatively and qualitatively to the public under scope.

    BHADERWAH JUNE 22 :–The Social welfare DepartmentDistrict Doda conducted an awareness camp on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for students in the premises of Govt Hr Sec School boys Bhaderwah here today .

    The camp was conducted under the guidance of the District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Qazi whereas Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bhaderwah Subash Kotwal , Principal Govt Hr Sec School boys Bhaderwah Anees Ahmed , Advocate Mohd Majid Malik , Educationist Arif Rana , Nasser Ahmed , Kapoor , Muzamil Yezdani President UEWT Bhaderwah and other were also present on the occasion .

    The Social welfare Officer Bhaderwah Subash Kotwal said that the Government of India Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has announced an initiative “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under thIS initiative, a range of interactive and educational activities have been planned as part of a month-long Programme which aims to empower the students and society by creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among tribal communities.

    During the awareness programme, resource person Adv Mohd Majid Malik highlighted the causes, consequences, and treatment options for substance abuse. He also emphasized the role of rehabilitation centers in providing various therapeutic interventions for those struggling with addiction. He also informed that the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, commonly referred to as the NDPS Act, is an Act of the Parliament of India that prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance Adv Mohd Majid Malik saidSection 37 of the NDPS Act deal with the aspect of offences to be cognizable and non-bailable. This section states every offence punishable under the NDPS Act shall be cognizable, and no person accused of an offence punishable for [offences under section 19 or section 24 or section 27-A and also offences involving commercial quantity] shall be released on bail or on his own bond, unless the certain conditions are met. ,He also informed that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an important campaign that aims to address the issue of substance abuse and create a drug-free India. It is our responsibility to educate the youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and provide them with access to the necessary resources to combat this issue.

    ” The awareness camp received a positive response from the students, NSS , NCC cadets and staff of the school who appreciated the efforts made by the Social Welfare Department in creating awareness about the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and resource person also created awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse among students and youth .
