    RAJOURI, MAY 27:–During her two-day visit to Rajouri district, National Secretary BJP Mahila Morcha, Rekha Kumari on Saturday visited Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AH GMC) and took stock of dedicated healthcare facilities being provided to the beneficiaries.

    Dr. Mehmood Hussain Bajar, Medical Superintendent AH GMC accompanied Rekha Kumari during her visit to various departments and wards and also appraised her about the health care delivery system in the hospital.

    National Secretary BJP Mahila Morcha, Rekha Kumari also interacted with the patients, attendants & staff and appreciated the hospital management-especially Medical Superintendent, Dr Mehmood Hussain –doctors, and Paramedics for their dedication towards their legitimate duties in providing quality health care services to the patients/beneficiaries.

    Rekha Kumari informed that on the directions of the Prime Minister, she is on a two-day tour to the Rajouri district to visit Anganwadi Centers, & hospitals to see whether the facilities being provided under the various Central sponsored schemes are reaching the beneficiaries at these centers or not.

    “I had interaction with the GMC Administration, patients, and their attendants & I am satisfied that beneficiaries are getting the benefits of these schemes. GMC Rajouri has adequate infrastructure, machinery & other required facilities,” said Rekha Kumari.
    She added that the only shortcoming that I noticed and was also informed by the GMC Administration is a shortage of staff & doctors.

    “Shortage of doctors is a UT-level issue. Even other hospitals/GMCs in the UT are also facing a shortage of doctors. I request Central Government as well as Lt Governor Administration to provide the required strength of staff/ doctors at the earliest,” said Rekha Kumari.

    “ I appreciate the efforts of the Medical Superintendent, AH GMC that despite a 40-45% shortage of staff/doctors, he is managing the hospital affairs very well,” she added.

    RAJOURI MAY 27:–Under the aegis of Range Police Headquarters and District Police Office Rajouri, Police organized ‘Drugs Awareness’ programme at Government Degree College Nowshera.

    Among others who attended the event included Principal GDC Nowshera KK Sharma, Additional SP Nowshera MR Giri, Assistant Professor Joginder Singh, Davinder Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Inam-ul-Haq, Rajat Bhardawaj, Pooja Devi, Gurjeet Singh, Harshal Sharma, PTI Akhil Khajuria, Sunil Bhanu, Incharge SHO PS Nowshera Anis Chowdhary, media fraternity members and large number of students.

    To start with Principal of the College welcomed Additional SP for conducting the Drugs Awareness programme in the college and said that in future he would like these types of events, seminars, debates to be held regularly to aware the students who are the future of our society and nation.

    Additional SP Nowshera while talking to the students about drug abuse and the way out, explained to the students the very concept of drug abuse, various types of drugs, scenario at the International, national, state and district level by data presented through elaborate PPT in this regard.

    He said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge before the country.

    It is the duty of all stakeholders to join hands in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace.

    He said that substance abuse has affected human lives in every aspect.

    He also appreciated participants for being part of the event organised by Rajouri Police to get aware about the ill effects of drugs and cooperating Rajouri Police in organising Drug Awareness Programme, which he said, will prove to be useful in the long run.

    At the event the participants demanded for more such programmes in Nowshera to which the Additional SP assured all possible help.

    He said that for the betterment of youth J&K Police always remain on the forefront.

    During past few months , Rajouri Police has organized many sports events in Lam, Bhawani, Sunderbani so that the youth will be busy in constructive activities. JK Police always worked for the welfare of the people .

    He also said that to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, public cooperation is necessary and stressed upon the students and teachers to share all such information related to drug supply in the area so that Police can act swiftly.

    He also appealed to the participants to cooperate with the Police in identifying drug addicts in their locality so that they can be counselled in better ways.

    Students also raised several questions about the drugs menace which were replied to the satisfaction of students.

    ‘Pledge against Drug Abuse’ was read out and taken by everyone present like students, faculty members, media fraternity, police personnel and so on .

    Students and other participants displayed hoardings/posters against drug abuse in the college premises and showed their full commitment for working against the menace in the interest of society and nation.

    POONCH MAY 27:–On the final Day of inter School Zone Poonch competition organised by Department of Youth services and Sports in the age Group of under 14 boys and Girls in the discipline of Kho Kho ,Chess , Carrom, kabaddi ,Volleyball and badminton here at sports Stadium Poonch. 687 young budding boys and girls of different schools of Zone Poonch Took part in this competition which held under the direction of District youth services and Sports officer Poonch Mohd Qasim and under the Supervision of Narinder Singh ZPEO Poonch.

    Nirdosh Kumar IC Manager sports Stadium Poonch  was the chief guest today.
    The chief Guest met with all the Participants and Speaking on the occasion my best wishes to all the Participants and advised to all the participants to play the game with true sporting spirit.

    Earlier the August gathering was welcomed by Narinder Singh Zonal Physical Education officer Poonch.All matches were officiated by Technical Pannel consisting of PEM,PET ,REK of Department of Youth services and Sports.

    HANDWARA, MAY 27:–An annual Road Race was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Zone Handwara from Kulangam Chowk to GHSS Boys Handwara wherein 30 government, as well as private schools of Zone Handwara , took part with a participation of around 300 in the age group of U-14 ,U-17 years , U-19 Boys.

    All the participants were full of enthusiasm. Convenor monitoring/Publicity committee by Farooq Ah Yatoo with his tireless efforts made the event a grand event.

    DDC Rajwar Mir Sulaiman,District Youth Service Sports Officer Zahoor Ah Wani along others distributed medals among the winners at the concluding function along with the Principal GBHSS Handwara, GGHSS Handwara and othere

    The race was flagged off By DYSO Kupwara Zahoor Ahmad ,SHO Handwara Shabir Ahamad, Town Commander Handwara, ZPEO Farooq Ah Yatoo and other officials of the department.

    The race was started at 07:30 am and it was ended 09:00 am at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Handwara.

    RAJOURI MAY 27 :– For the past several days, normal life has been affected by heavy hailstorm in Pirpunjaal, including Jammu and Kashmir, while on Friday afternoon in Khawas tehsil of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, vegetables and crops were damaged in a large scale due to heavy hailstorm. After Friday afternoon, other villages of Khawas have been affected by snow-like blanket of hail.

    Local sources said that Kotcharwal, Khorbani, Dhileri, Narla, Bumal, Prankot and other parts of Dakhikot crops and fruits were damaged by the fierce hailstorm. Vegetables and cheeses have also been completely destroyed. Heavy rains and fierce hail are continuing in other parts of Jammu and Kashmir including Pirpunjaal.
    same in Rajouri district, due to the cloud burst in the village of Darhal, the houses and agriculture land were damaged .

    Due to sudden cloud burst in Darhal Panchayat B Ward No. 4 the crops and vegetables also destroyed due to drain overflow. Local sources of Darhal said that two drains in Ward No. 4 are without safety lack. Due to the lack of safety , the water enters the nearby houses and lands and causes destruction.

    On Friday  in this storm, a channel of flood water entered the houses of Irshad Malik Aftab Malik and a widow who is very poor. And the rapid stream of water caused destruction and swept away their land. This scene of destruction was so terrible that the people of the entire panchayat gathered there and participated in the rescue operation.

    Partially, these three houses have been damaged due to the rapid flow of water and the household appliances in the houses were also destroyed. Life will continue to be paralyzed due to unseasonal stormy rains in Pirpunjal region including Jammu and Kashmir. People panicked due to the hailstorm. The local people said that the farmers have suffered severe damage.
