RAJOURI, MAY 11:–After the 2015 infamous scholarship scam, allegations of misdoings, and financial irregularities (investigation report still not disclosed), BGSBU Rajouri is once again in the news for bungling & this time teachers are demanding the termination of the contractual engagement of Prof. Iqbal Pervaiz, transfer of Joint Secretary, Suneet Gupta till pending inquiry, and inquiry into financial bungling in TEQIP-III.
Teachers at BGSBU have been protesting in favour of their demands and are on indefinite strike. They avoided highlighting the issue in the media for the betterment of BGSBU as the University is established after the name of a famous Sufi saint Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah.
“But, instead of mitigating our problems/demands, BGSBU administration has put our demands under the carpet and on Thursday came up with an advisory that uses threatening words and of dire consequences,” said teachers. association. Teachers now decided to highlight the misdoings, bungling etc going on at the University to highlight their issues.
“BGSBU is going through a tough phase with insensitive and corrupt people at the helm of the affairs. On 8-5-23 teachers in their association’s general body meeting projected their long pending demand of action against corrupt officials” said teachers.
Later association’s office bearers met with Prof. Akbar Masood, VC, and raised their demands in writing, including termination of the contractual engagement of Prof. Iqbal Pervaiz, transfer of Suneet Gupta to Kishtwar campus till pending inquiry, & inquiry into financial bungling in TEQIP-III.
The VC didn’t bother to listen to the genuine demands of the teachers and instead defended both the targeted officers.
“However, under the teacher’s pressure, VC on Tuesday relieved Prof. Iqbal Pervaiz (claiming his personnel request) thereby exonerating him from all his administrative and financial misappropriations,” alleged teachers.
“On Thursday university administration came up with an advisory using threatening words and dire consequences,” teachers said and adding that Suneet Gupta has trapped the present VC as he has been doing in the past.
Teachers alleged that Gupta has managed illegal promotions and financial benefits during the tenures of all the VCs, exercising a complete monopoly over the VC’s office and helping his blue-eyed people and using them for his personal gains.
“While being on deputation to the Cluster University of Jammu, he managed re-deputation to BGSBU (Cluster University, Jammu directed Gupta to report back to BGSB University). Ironically, he managed to withdraw charge allowance from 2012 including the period he was away on deputation” teachers alleged.
The teachers and other employees of the University have been demanding an inquiry into financial irregularities in TEQIP-III, the transfer of Suneet Gupta to Kishtwar Campus pending inquiry, inquiry into his promotion from being a contractual employee in the University of Jammu to Joint Registrar in BGSB in less than eight years.
It is pertinent to mention here that teachers who were appointed as Assistant Professor in 2005 are still working as Assistant Professors in spite of fulfilling all eligibility criteria.
Teachers also alleged that the CAS promotion of teachers got stayed by Hon’ble High Court owing to the deliberate absence of University counsel in all four hearings leading up to the stay order.
They are also demanding inquiry and fixation of responsibility into the leakage of confidential documents and the involvement of officers looking after the legal matters of the University.
Teachers alleged that the career of around seventeen lecturers, appointed during the tenure of the first VC, is in jeopardy without any assured career progression and settlement of pay grades as applicable under the rules.
The teachers have urged Lt. Governor UT of J&K, Manoj Sinha, who is also the Chancellor of BGSBU to protect the University from further damage and freedom from corrupt officials and practices.
