    RAJOURI, APRIL 09:–In a meeting held here at Rajouri on Sunday, Principal Secretary, ARI and Training Department (ARI &TD) Ashok Parmar, too k a comprehensive review of physical and financial progress of development projects and schemes being implemented in the district.

    Principal Secretary emphasized interdepartmental coordination as crucial for resolving developmental bottlenecks besides ensuring the timely completion of works.

    “Make dedicated efforts towards ensuring prompt and quality services to the general public. Take effective measures to redress the genuine grievances of the public in a time-bound manner,” While appreciating the district administration and Jal Shakti Department for progress achieved under Jal Jeevan Mission, Ashok Parmar asked the concerned officers to keep working with the same zeal for successful implementation of JJM in the district so that all the households of the district are provided with functional tapped water connections.

    “Educate the public about the welfare initiatives being implemented by the government and ensure that maximum beneficiaries are covered under these schemes. Personally visit all the works of your departments and regularly review progress for expeditious completion of works,” said Ashok Parmar.

    DDC Chairman, Advocate Chowdhary Naseem Liyaqat, DDC members and BDC Chairpersons also highlighted a number of development issues concerning their respective areas.

    Representatives of the people highlighted a number of issues and demands, including speedy implementation of JJM projects, sanctioning of additional Anganwadi centers, dilapidated condition of roads and school buildings, replacement of worn-out water pipes, construction of a building for GDC Doongi, timely completion of work on the office building of BDC Siot and related matters.

    District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, briefed about the physical and financial progress achieved under various schemes and programs being implemented by different departments in the district through power point presentation during the meeting.
    Those present in the meeting include DDC members Rajouri, Thanamandi, and Moughla; BDC members Moughla, Rajouri, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Doongi, Siot, Plangarh, Manjakote, Dhangri, and Seri.
    Chief Planning Officer, Additional SP; SE Hydraulics, ACD, ACP, DMO, CMO, DSWO and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

    2nd major attempt of narco-terror foiled in Shahpur sector within 15 days

    RAJOURI, APRIL 09:–Within a fortnight alert Indian Army troops deployed on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Shahpur area in the Poonch district foiled a second major attempt of Narco-terror smuggling and killed one intruder and captured alive other two.

    The killed and the apprehended intruders are residents of Maidan Mohalla of village Chanjal in PoJK and have been identified as deceased Mohammad Sharief Kohli (42) s/o injured Mohd Akbar Kohli; Tariq Kohli (25) s/o Mohd Yousuf Kohli; and Mohammad Shakeel (32) s/o Mohd Sadiq.
    Army has recovered 14 packets of Narcotics (about 17 kgs), Pakistani currency, and some documents from the possession of the arrested intruders.
    Earlier on March 24, alert Army troops of Doda Battalion foiled a Narco-terror smuggling attempt from this area and recovered 10 packets of narcotics.
    In another major action against drug smuggling and against drug smugglers, Poonch police on March 5 recovered Rs 2.3 crore Indian Currency, 15000 US Dollars and 7 kilograms of narcotics during a search of the house of notorious drug peddler namely Rafi Dhana @ Rafi Lal (presently detained under PSA).
    PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col Devender Anand said that at about 10.15 pm on Saturday alert troops deployed on the LoC in Poonch sector observed a suspicious movement of a group (three individuals) close to the Line of Control.

    At around midnight the group crossed the LoC and started infiltrating on to own side. The trio was under continuous observation of the Indian troops and at about 2 am the group reached the fence and was challenged by Indian troops.

    “On this, the intruders started to run away and were engaged by fire, in which one intruder was shot dead, while the other two managed to run into the jungle taking advantage of the thick foliage and rocky outcrop. The area was immediately cordoned to prevent their escape across the Line of Control,” said PRO Defence.
    A search operation was launched at first light wherein the dead body of one intruder was recovered at the encounter site. As the search progressed in the jungle, one intruder was apprehended alive in wounded condition. In the subsequent search the third intruder was also apprehended alive” he added.

    PRO Defence, Lt Col Devender Anand said that during the search operation so far 3 bags with fourteen packets of Narcotics approximately 17 kgs, Pakistan currency, some documents, and eatables have been recovered.

    During preliminary questioning, the two intruders apprehended alive claimed that they (all three) are residents of PoJK.
    “Alert Indian Army troops have thus prevented a major infiltration bid, of a Narco terror group which had the potential of disturbing the peace in Poonch & Rajouri Districts through its nefarious designs,” said Army and added it continues to remain alert on the LoC and is fully prepared to thwart any such attempts in the future too.

    POONCH APRIL 09:–Today ODI match played between Rahul Dravid Cricket Academy Club A vs club B. Club A won the toss and decided to bat. Club A scored on board 143 all out and in response to  Club B chased very easily.

    In the said match some dignitaries also present.The main reason to organised the said match is only try to keep the youth away from drugs addiction and some other evil activities which are harmful for life . Unfortunately in many societies drug dependence is still not recognised as a health problem and many people suffered from it . In the past few years there has been a major increase in buying or using drugs in society.Drugs can be used for stress reliever to escape from Reality Drugs are substances that change the way of person act feels and behaves Drugs are taken due to peer pressure coping situation or just for fun as Well This match organised under *G 20 and Nasha mukht Bharat abhiyan*

    It is pertinent to mention here that Pervaiz Malik Afridi always organised these types of matches and also try to involve himself in some other activities related to sports and a ginormous contribution of Pervaiz to keep the youth away from drugs activities and some related evil activities.

    BILLAWAR APRIL 09:–NSS unit, GDC Billawar today organised a cleanliness drive in the college premises. The whole event was carried out under the guidance of Principal Dr Alka Sharma.

    The drive started with the permission of IQAC coordinator Prof Lekh Raj. More than 70 volunteers took part in the drive with great enthusiasm. Volunteers started collecting waste around the Multipurpose hall and then from the main building.

    In the end, Dr Kulbir Singh NSS PO thanked the teaching faculty who were present there and all the volunteers for conducting the cleanliness drive.
