RAJOURI, MARCH 28:–Within 24 hours of the threat to migrating, & surrender ex-gratia/jobs as a mark of protest against the government agencies’ failure to trace, track and eliminate the killers of 7 people even after about three months of gruesome terror attack, the members of the victim families on Tuesday didn’t allow the groundwater authorities to install hand pump in upper Dhangri village.

On Monday while expressing their resentment members of victim families threatened to abandon the village (migrate) and surrender jobs provided/ ex-gratia amount provided to them by the government.

Immediately after the threats issued on Tuesday, Dheeraj Kumar, Sarpanch of Upper Dhangri village received a call from the Planning Department that the administration has decided to install a hand pump in the village to meet the water requirement of the villagers and affected families.

On Tuesday vehicles of Ground Water Department reached the village to start drilling work. But Saroj Bala, who had lost her sons Deepak (27) and Prince (21) in the January 1 terrorist attack, and other members of the victim families didn’t allow the drilling work.

While again expressing her resentment over the statement of DGP in which he recently said’ “The terrorists (struck at Dhangri) had infiltrated and might have returned back (to PoK)”, Saroj Bala said that we have been demanding justice for our children which the government has failed to provide even after about three months of the gruesome attack.

“As a mark of protest, we already have decided to migrate, return all kinds of ex-gratia (financial aids), and government jobs provided. We have lost our dears. We don’t want water, we first want justice for children,” said Saroj Bala & others.
They asked the officials of the Ground Water Department (GWD) to convey our message to Deputy Commissioner (who sent the GWD team) first to provide us justice and then water.

On Monday, while addressing the media here at Rajouri, members of the victim families expressed their concern that despite tall claims to eliminate the perpetrators of the Dhangri massacre within a month, the government agencies failed to inform us about the progress of their investigation.

Seven people, including two siblings, father-son duo and two children, of four families, were killed while fourteen others were injured in twin attacks by the terrorists on January 1 & 2.

After Monday’s threat to migrate and return ex-gratia/ government jobs provided, inhabitants of the Upper Dhangri village along with affected families are likely to chalk out their future course of action in an important meeting (soon) which will be joined by prominent religious leaders from other parts of the district/state.

Rahul Gandhi asked to vacate his government-allotted bungalow at 12, Tughlag Lane by April 22

    GNS ONLINE NEW DELHI

NEW DELHI :–Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been asked to vacate his government-allotted bungalow at 12, Tughlag Lane by April 22, days after he stood disqualified as a Lok Sabha member. According to the rule, a disqualified parliamentarian isn’t entitled to a government accommodation, and is given a 30-day period to vacate the official bungalow.

When Rahul Gandhi was allotted 12, Tughlaq Lane bungalow in 2004 when he became a Member of Parliament (MP) for the first time from Amethi, the buzz in the party was that he has shifted out of his mother Sonia Gandhi’s house — 10, Janpath – to emerge as an independent power centre.

Over the years, 12, Tughlag Lane has emerged as the second power centre to 10, Janpath.

The Congress leader was disqualified from the Lok Sabha on March 23 after he was convicted for a two-year termina criminal defamation case.

According to the Article 102 1(e) of the Constitution and Section 8(3) of the Representation of People Act, 1951, when read together, a Member of Parliament can be disqualified if he or she is convicted of any offence and sentenced to imprisonment for two or more years. The notice to vacate the bungalow was served by the Housing Committee of Lok Sabha.

Giving immediate bail, the court allowed the former Congress president 30 days to appeal in a higher court. But Rahul Gandhi would not be able to contest elections for eight years unless a higher court stays his conviction and sentence.
