    RAJOURI, DECEMBER 07:–The Rajouri District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Justice (NISJ) and Regional Resource and Training Centre (RRTC) on Ageing, Anugreha organised a one-day awareness program on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act (MWPSC Act) for police functionaries
    Sub-Judge and Secretary DLSA Rajouri, Wajahat Hussain Kazmi, was the chief guest at the program which was divided into four sessions.
    In the first session, Advocate Shoket Ali acted as a resource person and delivered a lecture on the features and significance of the MWPSC Act.
    In the second session of the program, a social activist, Pariksha Sharma, acted as a resource person and laid emphasis on the different contours of the act.
    In the third session of the program, Advocate Tarun Vasson delivered a lecture and highlighted the importance of the MWPSC Act.
    Similarly, in the 4th and final session, Advocate Shivangi Kant acted as a resource person and delivered a lecture on the salient features of the Act.
    Sub Judge & Secretary, DLSA, gave an overview of the MWPSC Act and advised the police officers to help the senior citizens in their respective areas within the mandate of the said Act.
    “MWPSC Act was enacted to ensure that parents and senior citizens are given basic amenities so that they don’t face any inconveniences. The act makes more effective provisions for the maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens,” he said.
    The Sub Judge (Secretary DLSA) said that with increasing age, older persons become dependent.
    In addition to the health issues, they are also subjected to different forms of abuse, like emotional, physiological, financial, and verbal, he added.
    “Act makes it mandatory for children or legal heirs to provide the basic amenities to their parents or grandparents (or senior citizens), and maintenance tribunals have been established to ensure the implementation of the law,” said Sub Judge.
    The Secretary of DLSA also highlighted a number of measures being taken by the government for the welfare of the elderly and urged the participants to educate the general public about various provisions of the act.

    RAJOURI, DECEMBER 07:-– People are reaping the benefits of Block Diwas also called ‘Youm-e-Block’ initiative which is organized by the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in every district once in a week.
    Block Diwas is a part of the ambitious ‘Jan Abhiyan’ program during which Deputy Commissioners and other officers assess the progress of developmental works being executed and listen to public issues, grievances and demands. It also provides the Administration an opportunity to interact directly with people, obtain feedback from them and do on-the-spot Grievance Redressal.
    “We are reaping the benefits of Block Diwas being organized in the district”, said one of the Panchayat Raj Institute Members during the public outreach program held at Moughla block. He also highlighted that the issue of lack of doctors at PHC Moughla has been redressed, and the same was raised by the public during Block Diwas at Treru block.
    Shri Kasturi Lal also appreciated the efforts of the District Administration in removing the bottlenecks for Development which have been raised in the previous block diwas at Treru.
    Continuing the mega public outreach initiative of the Government of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a Public Outreach Camp here at Moughla and listened to the issues and development aspirations of public representatives as well as the locals.
    Among the issues projected on the occasion were GDC for Moughla, blacktopping of RDD roads, adequate manpower for the education sector, shortage of technical assistants and VLWs, Kendriya Vidyalaya for Moughla etc.
    Other issues were provision of 108 Ambulance service for PHC Mougla, buildings for schools and Health institutions, provision of electricity poles, revenue entries of playfields, one community toilet and one hand pump for Dakbunglow at Moughla etc.
    Officers of different departments also replied to the queries raised by the public and their representatives during the event. They also highlighted a number of schemes and programs being implemented in the district and motivated the public to avail the benefits of the same.
    While highlighting the schemes of the Social Welfare Department, the DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt said that 70000 beneficiaries were getting pension under old guidelines. He also informed that the guidelines of the pension schemes have been revised and urged the beneficiaries and PRIs to ensure registration of beneficiaries through online portals.
    The DSWO also imparted awareness among the masses about Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and urged the public to work in coordination with the District Administration to eradicate drug menace from the society.
    The DDC gave a patient hearing to all the issues projected by the public during the event and assured them that the demands raised shall be fulfilled in a time bound manner.
    Addressing the event, the DC said that the Block Diwas ensures doorstep public service delivery and redressal of the genuine grievances of the common man. .
    He also listed public initiatives of the District Administration and said “We are working on a multi pronged strategy for the holistic development of all the areas of the district and every sector is being pushed to achieve the desired results on the ground.”
    He called for coordination among the departments and PRIs to achieve desired development objectives besides timely intervention and action to mitigate the sufferings of the people. He also urged the public and their representatives to work shoulder to shoulder with administration to take the district to new heights of development.
    While responding to the public issues, the DDC said that timely and quality disposal of the issues of the general public is the top priority of the district administration.
    Highlighting the progress of the power sector, he informed that 08 new creations and 09 Augmentation projects are being executed in Moughla Block under power sector.
    While informing about the status of schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission, the DC said that 26 villages of the block are being covered under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He also said that the protection work worth Rs 35 lacs is being constructed along the Mougha Nallah. He further informed that 7500 specially abled persons of the area have been facilitated in getting the UDIDs.
    DC also distributed Age Proof Certificates among beneficiaries for old age pension scheme of Social Welfare Department.
    While responding to the demand of construction of a bus stop for Terayth, the DC directed the concerned officer to identify suitable land for the same.
    The DC also directed tehsildar to ensure door to door delivery of ration and issued directions for resolving all other issues .

    UDHAMPUR DECEMBER 07:–Continuing its endeavour to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Udhampur Police arrested three drug peddlers in 02 different cases and recovered 15 grams of Heroin like narcotic substance from their possession.

    Police party of Police Station Udhampur headed by PSI Kulbhushan Singh and assisted by SHO PS Udhampur Insp. Raghubir Singh under the supervision of Addl. SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and Sahil Mahajan DySP Hqrs Udhampur, was deputed at Naka Point Jakheni when One Motorcycle i.e., TVS Radeon, Black in colour, with registration number JK02CU 9308, coming from Chenani side towards Udhampur city was signaled to stop and the rider of the motorcycle disclosed his name as Aditya Kumar S/O Sham Lal Caste Rajput R/O Village Dewla Chammb Tehsil Sadar District Bilaspur and the pillion rider disclosed his identity as Abinash Sharma S/O Shambu Dutt Sharma Caste Brahman R/O Prey Tehsil Ramnagar District Udhampur. During their search contraband Heroin like Narcotic Substance 6.5 grms was recovered from Aditya Kumar S/O Sham Lal and 1.5 grms Heroine like contraband was recovered from Abinash Sharma S/O Shambu Dutt Sharma and both the drug peddlers were arrested on spot.

    In this regard, Case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Sation Udhampur.

    In another case, Police party of Police Post Roun Domail led by PSI Akhilesh Khajuria IC PP Roun Domail, apprehended one person namely Sushil Sharma s/o Paras Ram caste Brahmin R/o Vill. Kagote, Teh. Ramnagar, Distt. Udhampur from Ritti and recovered 7 gms heroin from his possession and was arrested on spot.

    In this regard, Case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Sation Udhampur.

    Further investigations in both the cases is going on.

    According to doctor’s , a patient was presented with #38_weeks of #gestation period alongwith a #huge_ovarian_cyst and was experiencing breathlessness.

    After a quick examination, Dr Javed Munawer ( gynaecologist) took the lead alongwith anaesthetists Dr GM Mir & Dr Reyaz , Anesthesia technicians Mr Abdul Qayoom , Mr Prince , Mr Imtiyaz, Surgical Assistant Mr GM Bhat , Mr Sajad & Mr Rouf.
    The patient was operated successfully and got relieved of her symptoms soon after the operation.
    People of area are highly appreciated to whole administration of DH Handwara.
