    RAJOURI, JUNE 09:—First of its kind in the Jammu Division, a workshop on Temporal Bone Dissection was organised on Thursday by the Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) Rajouri.
    The temporal bone dissection procedure involves harvesting the bone from a human cadaver and storage in formaldehyde. It is mounted securely in a bone holder in the same position as in actual surgery and dissected using a surgical microscope and a micromotor drill.
    The ENT & HNS Department of Government Medical College headed by Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Gupta organised the workshop under the overall supervision of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shashi Sudhan Sharma.
    Prof (Dr.) Padam Singh and Prof (Dr.) Sonika Kanotra from Government Medical College, Jammu were the guest faculty member, while Dr. Ghulam Ali Shah, Former Principal of GMC Rajouri was the Chief Guest of the event.
    Other Doctors and members of ENT & HNS Department, including Dr. Vidushi Badyal, Associate Professor ENT & HNS; Dr. Mukhthar Ahmad Khan, Assistant Professor ENT & HNS; Dr. Ajaz Malik, Consultant ENT & HNS were members of the organising committee of the workshop.
    The staff of Associated Hospital (district hospital) headed by Dr. Mehmood Bajar, Medical Superintendent, GMC&AH also took part in the workshop.
    Besides faculty, the event was largely attended by post-graduate students of GMC Jammu, ASCOMS, and other peripheral institutions of J&K UT and undergraduate students from GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.

    RAJOURI, JUNE 09:–Department of Biotechnology, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology, BGSBU, Rajouri, on Thursday organised a one-day event as a part of the Biotech Startup Expo-2022, which was attended by faculty members, research scholars & students.
    Biotech Startup Expo-2022 is being held to mark the completion of ten years of setting up of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), the Government of India.
    The theme of the Expo is ‘Biotech Startup Innovations: Towards AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Pragati Maidan(New Delhi) today.
    The Biotech Startup Expo 2022 will provide a common platform to connect investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, researchers, industry leaders, manufacturers, bio-incubators, regulators, and government officials.
    “The Indian biotechnology industry is one of the fastest-rowing knowledge-based sectors & currently India ranks amongst the top 12 biotechnology destinations worldwide and is a global leader in the production of drugs and vaccines,” said Prof. Akbar Massod, VC,BGSBU.
    For an economy like India, biotechnology is a powerful enabling technology that can revolutionize agriculture, healthcare, industrial processing, and environmental sustainability, he added.
    Dr. A. A. Shah, Associate Dean, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology said that India is witnessing a paradigm shift in its conventional policies in education, Biotechnology employment avenues, and the role of academics and industry to make India self-reliant, as we call it Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
    Several participants expressed their views on the theme; including Yaser Rafiq Mir (Senior Research Fellow), who delivered a talk on the ‘Role of next-generation sequencing technology in health care entrepreneurship’, and Sajid Ali Shah (Research Scholar) also discussed “Role of biotechnology in entrepreneurship”.
    Nadia Gul (Senior Research Fellow) conducted the event proceedings, Dr Saima Aslam addressed a formal vote of thanks.

    RAJOURI JUNE 09:–In order to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in policing, a Thana Diwas event was organized at Police Station Kalakote on 09.06.2022.

    This public outreach programme was chaired by SSP Rajouri Mohd Aslam-JKPS and attended by Addl. SP Nowshera Amit Verma-JKPS, SHO PS Kalakote Inspr. Deepak Pathania and other officers & officials of the P/S.
    Purpose and importance of Thana Diwas was highlighted among the participants. The meeting was also attended by public representatives viz., Member DDC Kalakote MS Anita Thakur, Member DDC Mogla MS Shamim Akhter, Chairman Municipality Vijay Suri and other Counselors, Sarpanches, Panches and members of civil society and Beopar Mandal. Public gathering was about 50/55.
    On the occasion, participants highlighted various issues of public importance, and they were assured that their genuine grievances would be immediately addressed. SSP Rajouri, while speaking on the occasion, assured the general public that matters relating to illegal drugs, illegal mining and other social prevalent ills and issues shall be sternly dealt with amd immediately addressed by the Police.

    The participants were requested to cooperate with police in maintaining law & order in the area and identifying anti- national and anti social elements who are trying to disrupt the peaceful environment.

    Participants expressed their appreciation for organizing Thana Diwas. Some of the public grievances were also settled on spot.

    In the coming days, such public outreach programmes shall continue and all efforts shall be made to provide a transparent Policing model throughout he district.

    UDHAMPUR, JUNE 09:–District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand and Deputy Commissioner, Krittika Jyotsna today visited block Chanunta and listened to public issues and demands at a weekly Block Diwas programme.

    DDC Councillor and District Officers of various departments besides PRIs of adjoining panchayats also participated in the Block Diwas.

    DDC, Councillor, Jattu Ram, Sarpanches, Panches and local people of adjoining panchayats projected scores of demands and problems being faced by them like paucity of drinking water supply in different parts of the block, Uninterrupted power supply, maintenance and block topping of various roads, up gradation of schools etc.

    Responding to the demands, DC assured the public that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a time bound manner. While interacting with the PRIs and general public of the area. DC said that the main objective of conducting Block Diwas is to resolve day to day public issues and the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes on the ground. DDC Chairperson, DC asked PRIs to work efficiently for implementation of these welfare schemes on the ground and all schemes are implemented effectively on the ground.

    The DC said that such platforms enable District administration to know the multifaceted problems being faced by the public which in turn help devise appropriate strategy through prioritization and optimum utilization of resources for redressing issues through converged efforts.

    The DC directed Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, Sericulture and other allied departments to organize awareness programmes in the block.

    After concluding Block Diwas, DC also inspected ongoing developmental works at Panjgarian Nagrota in block Chanunta. Executing agencies were directed to expedite the work and its completion within stipulated time frame.

    UDHAMPUR, JUNE 09:– Department of Music, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur today organized a National webinar on “Influence of Classical Music on Different Singing Styles” under Shikshit Bharat through Google meet.

    Principal of the College Prof(Dr)Monika Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion while Ex- Head & Dean Faculty Performing Visual Arts, M.D. University Rohtak, Dr. Hukam Chand, (Disciple of Ustad Hussain Baksh) was the resource person of the webinar.

    Dr. Monika Sharma lauded the efforts of the Music Department of this college for organizing the national webinar . She urged for holding more such programmes in the near future in the institutions for the benefit of music students.

    Resource person Dr. Hukam Chand gave a detailed lecture cum practical demonstration on the above said topic. He talk about the Raga Pahadi, word ‘pahad’ in Hindi language stands for ‘mountain’ and hence automatically the very name of the raga ‘Pahadi’ conjures up the vision of lush green hills and snow-clad mountains.He added that it also brings to our mind so many of our film songs picturized using this scenery as the backdrop. This pleasant raga suits many moods and is often referred to as ‘sarvakaleen raga’ or one that can be sung at any time of day or night, He added. He also gave brief about the various Raags used in the filmi music, gazals and other light music etc.

    Later, the Programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Head of Department Music Dr. Seema Sharma.

    The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Assistant Professor Shallu Jasrotia besides Assistant Professor Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Assistant Professor Yash Kumar coordinated the National Webinar.

    The feedback has been shared with all the participants for processing the certificates within a week’s time.

    Among others, HoD Electronic Prof. Sarika Mahajan, Head of Department History, Professor Yash Paul, HoD Urdu, Prof. Mool Raj HoD, Punjabi Prof. Rajinder Singh, HoD Geography Prof. Pooja Bharti, senior faculty members and a large number of participants were also present on the webinar.

    UDHAMPUR, JUNE 09: –The Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur today organised a seminar on “Competitive Exams after Graduation “under its Series of Seminars/Webinars on the theme “Educational Prospects after Graduation.” The event was held under the supervision of Prof. Jugal Kishore, Convenor, Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell.

    Principal of the College, Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief guest, who formally inaugurated the event by lighting the Traditional lamp. The proceedings of the programme were initiated by Prof. Jugal Kishore.

    Addressing the students, the Principal encouraged and motivated the students for participating in such programmes and congratulated the Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell for organising the event. She encouraged them to organise more such events in the future also. She advised the students to attend such Guidance oriented Lectures thereby keeping them abreast of the ever-changing educational avenues available to the graduates.

    Arun Gupta, Librarian, was the resource person on the occasion. In his lecture, he informed the students about different competitive examinations for educational opportunities and career prospects available to them after graduation.

    More than 150 students participated in the seminar making the event a success held under the leadership of Neesha, college student Council President.

    The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Yash Paul, Member, Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell. Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor in Physics was also present on the occasion.
