RAJOURI, MAY 20:–Vibodh Gupta, BJP State General Secretary & former MLC said that Lt Governor Ad ministration is leaving no stone unturned as for as the sustainable and equitable development of border areas is concerned.
Vibodh Gupta was addressing a public rally in a remote border village Khankhari in Rajouri where he also kick-started construction work on an important Khankahari to Chamba Dala road in the presence of concerned officials/officers of PWD (R&B) and the local residents.
“LG administration has been making sincere and dedicated efforts in mitigating the miseries of the poor and marginalised communities in the border areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts,” said Vibodh Gupta.
On the other hand, Central Government under the matchless leadership of Prime Minister Modi also gives priority to the developmental works in the border areas in UT of J&K, he added.
Border dwellers of our country are real warriors and along with the Indian Army these people are ensuring the safety and security of the country, said Vibodh.
“Various road projects under execution in border areas in both the border districts of Rajouri & Poonch once completed would go a long way in the overall development of neglected border areas” said Vibodh.
Rajinder Gupta, district president BJP (Rajouri) informed that besides infrastructure development activities, the Central Government has launched various people’s welfare schemes, especially for the people of border areas.
He asked the people to get benefits from such schemes.
Abdul Hussain, Sarpanch Khankhari Halqa, thanked Vibodh Gupta and other senior BJP leaders for their visit to the area and for their regular support in ensuring that developmental projects are properly implemented in this border belt.
Inhabitants of the area also raised their various issues and highlighted their problems. Vibodh assured that he will raise these issues with concerned authorities for their early redressal.

JAMMU, MAY 20:–Apni Party Provincial President Jammu and Ex-Minister, Manjit Singh today said that the joining of member civil society, lawyers and educated people have joined Apni Party in last several months shows that the people have accepted the party’s policy and agenda for Jammu and Kashmir.
“This policy and agenda is pointed towards overall development of all the regions without any bias, development of rural areas, providing best possible health care, improvement in education system and keeping both the regions united,” he said when he welcomed people who joined Apni Party at Gandhi Nagar office here on Thursday.
Prominent among those who joined Apni Party include Attar Hussain, Rehmat Ali, Raiz Ahmed, Mohammed Aslam, Shoqat Hussain and others. The joining was organized by District Secretary, Ashraf Choudhary.
He said that the Apni Party has received overwhelming response from all sections of society to the policy of development which is against a divisive agenda to keep the two regions united.

DYSS Organised Inter-school events of Zone Surankote-

POONCH MAY 20:– Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) organised inter-school zone level girls competitions of zone Surankote in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Badminton,Carrom and Chess in the age groups of U/17 Girls at HSS seri khawaja .
About 160 students drawn from various educational institutions HSS seri khawaja took part in the competition.
The competition held under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Surankote Vipin khujuri and over all supervision by the district (DYSS) officer, Mohd Qasim. All the working field staff of zone surankote were also present on the occasion including PEM’s PET’s ReK’s and NYC’s -

BANDIPORA MAY 20: –In commemoration of World Bee Day a Honey Testing and other Bee Hive Products Testing Laboratory funded by Honey Bee Board of India was inaugurated today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora by worthy Director Extension SKUAST Kashmir, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar virtually inaugurated honey testing lab and processing units in Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttrakhand on the occasion of World Bee on Friday.The UN General Assembly has declared May 20 as World Bee Day in order to create awareness on the pivotal role of bees and other pollinators in keeping people and the planet healthy.
Another such laboratory has been established with financial assistance from National Bee Board (NBB) under National Bee Keeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) Scheme. Mr. Bashir Ahmad Haji, Comptroller SKUAST Kashmir, Dr Farahnaaz Rasool Deputy Director Trainings, Dr. Tariq Sultan, Senior Grade Scientist KVK Bandipora, Scientists from KVK Bandipora graced the occasion. Dr. M.A.Parray, Head Division of Entomology, SKUAST-Kashmir, Dr. Parveena Bano, Principal Investigator NBHM Project Bandipora (Incharge Pollination Centre, SKUAST-Kashmir were present on the occasion. The laboratory is first of the type in district Bandipora and is equipped with state of the art instruments and equipments wherein testing facility can be availed by farmers for testing of honey and honey products free of cost. The facility can also be useful for organic certification of honey and honey products.
About 100 progressive Bee Keepers from different parts of District Bandipora participated. Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir emphasized the role of honey testing laboratory for the benefit of bee keepers regarding the purity and authenticity of their produce so that they can market their produce at good prices both at National and Global Level. Dr. Parveena Bano, P.I-NBHM Project Bandipora emphasized the importance of honey bees in pollination, honey production and other eco-system services provided by honey bees, besides generation of employment and enhancement of income of bee keepers, rural people and un-employed youth by establishing apiary units -
Faculty of Agriculture Wadura celebrates World Bee Day

SHAKIR BHATSOPORE MAY 20:— The World Bee Day was celebrated at Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura Campus on May 20, 2022. The event was organized by the Division of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, in collaboration with Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare District Baramulla. Every year World Bee Day is celebrated on May 20 with an aim to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators in the ecosystem. It is observed mainly to raise public awareness about the importance of bees in maintaining biodiversity. It also provides an opportunity to organization’s, civil societies, and concerned citizens worldwide to promote actions that will protect and improve pollinators and their habitats, increase their population and support the long-term development of beekeeping. This year’s theme for the day was “Bee Engaged: Celebrating the diversity of bees and beekeeping systems”. The key objective of this theme is to draw attention towards the various threats & challenges these pollinators face, while focusing on their contribution to livelihoods and food chain system.
Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Raihana H. Kanth in her inaugural address briefed about the Bees’ role in agriculture and their untiring role on crop pollination and other services attributed to enhanced crop productivity. She also stressed on the need of organizing the training programmes on scientific beekeeping. Accentuating on making beekeeping as an integral part of farming to attain higher profits on a regular basis, she also encouraged the rural youths to come forward and become beekeeping entrepreneurs. Mr. Yadvinder Singh Sason, CAO Baramulla highlighted the scope of ornamental plants in conservation of pollinator fauna in rural and urban areas. He also informed about the activities of the department in conservation of pollinator fauna and scope of floriculture based beekeeping for doubling the farmers’ income and employment generation. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Progressive Beekeeper, emphasized the farmers and unemployed youth to adopt beekeeping to increase their income resources. He expressed satisfaction that beekeeping is being well adopted in the Kashmir valley for increasing crop productivity and food security. Dr. Mohd Ayoub Mantoo, HoD Entomology delivered an expert lecture on role of beekeeping in increasing agricultural production and productivity. He also stressed upon the beekeeping awareness and importance of bee derived products. The programme was attended by heads of various divisions, faculty members, progressive farmers and more than 45 UG/PG students of the faculty. 20 bovines rescued by police in Nowshera sub division

RAJOURI MAY 20:–Jammu and Kashmir police in Nowshera sub division of Rajouri foiled multiple bovine smuggling bids rescuing twenty animals from the clutches of smugglers.
In an official statement, Rajouri police said that in the early morning hours on Friday, a vehicle tata mobile JK11D 3056 driven by Zakir Hussain son of Mohd Ashiq resident of Chingus tehsil Rajouri with two other person travelling in it was intercepted and found loaded with four bovine animals which were rescued.
Another police team intercepted a vehicle in the wee morning hours of Friday
at Qila Darhal.
The vehicle JK11B 9420 coming from Kass link road was found loaded with nine bovine animals which were rescued but smuggler Zafar Javid son of Mir.Hussain resident of Behrote Thanamandi manages to run away from the spot whose manhunt has been launched.In another action, police team recently had intercepted a vehicle JK02AK 6181 which was found loaded with 07 bovine animals and was plying towards Rajouri side from Tanda mala Behrote area.
The vehicle was intercepted at khui dheri in Siot soon after it hit a pedestrian leaving him injured.
The vehicle was seized at the spot while animals were rescued and manhunt to nab the accused driver has been launched.
Police said that cognizance in all three cases has been taken.

Machinery involved in illegal mining seized in Rajouri

RAJOURI, MAY 20:–On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, a team of Geology and Mining department laid nakas at various locations to crack a whip on perpetrators of illegal mining.
The teams during raids seized two tippers, one Dumper and one poclain.
The District Mineral officer, Naseeb Bajraang said that the Department is taking effective measures to curb illegal mining practices in the district and defaulters are being dealt with strictly.
While asking the people not to indulge in illegal mining activities, he made it clear that the violation of Government rules in this regard would be dealt with strictly.
Reteriating that effective measures are in place to check illegal mining practices in the district, the DMO also said that the drive launched against such practices will continue with more vigour and force till involved persons refrain from exercising such practices.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: World Bee & Metrology Day celebrated in Rajouri

RAJOURI, MAY 20:– To commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention in 1875 and also to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem, Government PG College Kheora today celebrated the World Metrology Day and World Bee Day here on the College campus under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The theme of the World Bees day was, “Bee Engaged: Celebrating the diversity of bees and beekeeping systems” while World Metrology day was observed with the theme, “Metrology in the Digital Era.”
To mark the twin events, a grand program was organised by the Post Graduate College Kheora. The program was organised under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.
During the event, scores of speakers highlighted the significance of the twin days. Prominent among them included the PG College Principal, Prof. Javed Ahmed Qazi; Chief Agriculture Officer, Sohan Singh; Assistant Controller Legal Metrology;Rajesh Heera; DSEO, Sandeep Sharma; Prof Iqbal Raina; Prof. Bashir Ahmed; Prof. Subash Vaid; Prof. Iqbal Raina and staff members of the college and students.
The Principal highlighted the importance of both the days and also underlined the role of Metrology. He also expressed the need to save the bees as they are very important for the environment.
Professor Bashir Ahmed said that World Bee day was celebrated to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem. He also threw a detailed light on Metrology and its various activities take place in most aspects of our daily commercial, economic, industrial, and environmental and health life.
Professor Subash Vaid also spoke on the importance of the bees in the environment saying that the bees work to pollinate plants that produce many of the seeds, nuts, and fruits that serve as a food source for local wildlife.
While speaking during the event, the Assistant Commissioner Legal Metrology highlighted the significance of the World Metrology day saying that the day pays tribute to the signature at the Metre Convention that occurred on the 20th of May, 1875.
He further said that the Convention featured a coalition of seventeen nations who came together to establish the framework for global collaboration in the field of scientific measurement.
Underlining the role of metrology, he said that the Metrology plays a central role in scientific discovery and innovation, industrial manufacturing and international trade, in improving the quality of life and in protecting the global environment.
The Chief Agriculture Officer, Sohan Singh, while enlightening the gathering about the importance of the World Bees day, said that the day aims to create awareness on the pivotal role of bees and other pollinators in keeping people and the planet healthy.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the day also gives an opportunity for people and a society as a whole to take actions to protect and enhance pollinators and their habitats, improve their abundance and diversity, and support the sustainable development of beekeeping. Thus contributing to solving problems related to the global food supply and eliminating hunger in developing countries.
Highlighting the role of the bees in the ecosystem, he said that bees are very important for the environment as these pollinate food crops.
He also underlined the need to save bees saying that Bees are a keystone species and if bees die off it will end most life and in nature, various animals depend on bees for their survival because their food sources rely on insect pollination.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal also interacted with the traders, congratulated them and facilitated them for adhering to the guidelines of the legal Metrology act.
