RAJOURI, MAY 01:–Several incidents of massive fire have been reported in different forest areas under Rajouri & Nowshera Forest Divisions in the Rajouri distr ict during the last few days.
Huge trails of smoke were visible even from far away in Sawani, Kallar, Ghrati, Dungi, Bathuni etc areas.
The staff of the Forest Department and Forest Protection Force (FPF), under the supervision of Masud Ahmed, Deputy Director, FPF made every effort to bring the fire under control.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Vikas Kundal, along with DFO Rajouri Dr. Arshdeep Singh, today visited Village Swani and adjoining areas to check the ground situation of the incidents of the Forest Fire.
Deputy Director, Forest Protection Force (FPF) and Tehsildar Rajouri, also accompanied the DC.
At Swani, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the local populace and said that Forests are community claims and it is the duty of everyone to protect forests from fire.
He also sensitized villagers about the dangers of forest fires and the steps to be taken to prevent forest fires.
He asked the locals to contact chowkidar, lambardar forest guard in case of sighting forest fires.
He clearly directed the level revenue authorities to identify the culprits involved in the forest fire incidents, if man-made.
The Revenue, Police, and Forest officials were asked to work in unanimity to contain the incidents of Forest fire in the district.
The DFO Rajouri was also asked to identify the volunteers at the Panchayat level and later train them on how to prevent forest fires.
The DC Rajouri also attended a Mock Fire fighting drill jointly organised by Forest protection Force and the Fire and emergency department.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the Forest Eco Park at Bathuni and passed on a slew of recommendations for better and effective management of the park.
Meanwhile, Neelima Shah, DFO Nowshera Divison has said that incidents of forest fires have been reported from across the division including many among them man-made.
“Please bring incident of forest fire immediately to the notice of the department so that the blaze can be controlled at the earliest by the staff of the department,” said Neelima Shah.
She also asked to help the forest department to save the forests because they are to the health of our environment.
She also appeals to identify the persons involved in a man-made forest fire for action against them under the rules & law.

GDC Ramnagar hosts online UT level Quiz programme on “Cyber Awareness”

UDHAMPUR, MAY 01: Department of Computer Applications of Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar today organized an online UT level Quiz Programme on “Cyber Awareness” as part of Cyber Jagrukta initiative of the Government.
The Quiz was organized under the active guidance and supervision of Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Principal and Assistant Prof. Aditya Sharma, HOD Computer Applications & Nodal Officer of Cyber Jagrukta cell of the College.
The quiz questions were framed in a way to improve the knowledge, understanding and awareness of the participants about various cyber crimes and ways to remain safe from these crimes. More than 200 staff and students from different Colleges of the J&K participated in the quiz.
E-certificates were also provided to those who secured more than 60 % marks in the quiz.

04 VEHICLES INVOLVED IN ILLEGAL MINING SEIZED BY UDHAMPUR POLICE

UDHAMPUR MAY 01:–Udhampur Police under the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr. Vinod Kumar, IPS today seized 04 vehicles involved in illegal transportation of construction material in the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station.
A Police team headed by SHO PS Udhampur Insp.Chaman Gorkha seized 03 tippers having registration nos. JK02BB 4055, JK02AJ 7588, JK 02BB 5156 which indulged in illegal mining and transportation of construction material. While in another instance police party of PP Roundomail led by PSI Akhilesh Khajuria IC PP while performing patrolling seized one more vehicle (Tractor Trolley)having registration no. JK14H 8361 for illegal extraction/transporting of construction material from river bed.
Meanwhile all the 04 vehicles seized were immediately handed over to the officials of Geological and Mining department Udhampur for further legal proceedings.During the current year pertinently, Udhampur Police seized 34 vehicles involved in illegal mining which were handed over to DMO geology and mining department.Out of these 34 vehicles, 29 vehicles were released by Geology and Mining department after compounding by an amount of Rs 6,81,333.
Addl.SP Udhampur Sh Anwaar Ul Haq, while sharing the details, said that Udhampur Police is committed for protecting the public property and Right of consumers. Also enforcing genuine rates of Goods & services in the jurisdiction. Any citizen having grievance regarding overcharging in buying minor minerals or in its transportation are advised to immediately approach nearest Police unit for legal action warranted under law.
