B.ed, M.ed & Phd aspirants under depression. The policies of J&K Govt in education department pushed them towards wall. AJKYF

We have invested blood, sweat, money and precious time in getting B.ed, M,ed & PhD degree. Imran Farhat

JAMMU February 01:–All J&K Youth Federation Incharge Chenab Valley Imran Farhat expressed deep concern over unemployment in J&K. As per survey under former Governor Satyapal Malik, a large number of aspirants of J&K have obtained professional teaching degrees like B.ed,M.ed and PhD from different Universities and teacher training colleges of J&K Union territory. But unfortunately there is no job policy for placement of these professionals, which creates lot of inconvenience for them and their families. Most of these professionals are at the verge of getting overage because of which anxiety, depression & other mental disorders has increased at an alarming rate in Jammu & Kashmir. The main reason for this is freezing of teacher recruitment since past four years & for subsequent years. The administration of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to make sure that the highly qualified degree holders of the Union territory remain in depression and face the punishment for being the most educated class in society. On the one side the doors of the education department are being shut for them since years now, and on the other side, the opportunities in others sectors are shrinking due to economic slowdown.

He said, since 2000-01, successive regimes introduced the scheme of SSA and employed thousands of candidates. One more scheme, RAMSA, was launched in 2009. The appointees worked with zeal to serve the purpose for which they were employed. Later on, these schemes were stopped, and in 2018 it was decided to accommodate the appointees in the department through 100% departmental promotion and freeze the direct recruitment in the education department till all of these get absorbed in the department as Grade-II and Grade-III teachers. This decision felt like a nightmare for thousands of degree holders who had invested decades on their education with the aim to serve society by getting employed in the education sector.

He added, today thousands of B.ed, M.ed M.Phil., Phd, and other degree holders are on the verge of getting overage. They are facing depression, mental health issues, drug addiction issues. These degree holders which are cream of the society are paying the price of follies of previous administrators. Although we not against the regularisation of SSA teachers, who had to struggle for years to get their due, but the government could have applied some other formula to absorb them. Although the issue was taken up with officials of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir from time to time but no redress has taken place.

He further said, that after the Reorganization of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories i.e Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union territory of Ladakh no new teachers and 10+2 Lecturer’s posts were advertised by the J&K recruitment agencies of any education department for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. These kinds of delays from government’s side some how demoralising the unemployed youth and young generation.

He further appealed and requested to the Hon’able Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha kindly intervene in this matter and to direct the government functionaries to compile all such data of vacant positions in all education departments in Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and advertise such positions in a manner of fast track recruitment, so that the unemployed youth B.ed, M ed and PhD degree holder’s of Jammu and Kashmir get Jobs. It is pertinent to mention here that compilation of data of vacant posts of teacher’s and 10+2 Lecturer’s will also provide benefit for advertising all such positions which are still lying vacant from last many years.
