Unemployed Engineers held protest against Govt for engaging retired JEs & AEs on contract basis.

    SHYAM SOOD
    RAJOURI AUGUST 30
:–Unemployed Engineers on Monday held a protest demonstration here at Thanamandi in Rajouri district against the state government’s decision to engage Junior Engineers (JEs) and Assistant Engineers (AEs)on a contractual basis.
These unemployed Engineers have demanded that instead of engaging the retired JEs & AEs the government should engage them on a contractual basis.
The Government is playing with the sentiments of the unemployed youths who are jobless. This order (decision) reflects that the Government has no sympathy with unemployed youths struggling from pillar to post to get employment” said Arshad, a young engineer.
Our parents had spent huge amounts on our study with a dream that their children will be engineers one day, but such type of irresponsible and poor system of the government has spoiled their dreams” he added.
Protesting unemployed engineers also express their concern over the de-activation of self-help group and request the government for its re-activation so that unemployed engineers may not suffer anymore.
If the Government has vacant posts in the rural department, then the government should advertise those posts and should adjust unemployed engineers to serve the department instead of recruiting those who already had served and retired from the department” said Irfan Anjum, another unemployed engineer.
These unemployed Engineers have appealed to Lieutenant Governor to cancel such orders and direct the concerned department to refer those posts to a recruitment agency to fill these posts at the earliest.
They added if the government has to recruit engineers on a contractual basis till the posts were filled on a permanent basis, then these highly qualified unemployed youth must be given opportunities instead of engaging the retired JEs & AEs.
