BHADERWAH , JUNE 20:– Advocate Mohd Majid Malik in a press statement issued here said Bhaderwah needs to be immediately upgraded as a district as this is a long-pending and legitimate demand of the local people and the Union government and UT of Jammu and Kashmir administration should start modalities to declare Bhaderwah as a district on the basis of qualification without further delay before delimitation . Advocate Mohd Majid Malik said Bhaderwah has all the qualifications to become a district headquarter and Bhaderwah is a lonely place in the whole Chenab Valley which directly connects through inter state road with Chamba , Bani Basoli and Pathankot ( Punjab ) . There is also a need to take up an apolitical movement to realise the dream. There is a need to carry out a campaign by including members of all castes, creed, religion and organisations. Malik said before 1955 Bhaderwah had covered a vast area of Chenab valley . Bhalessa , Drabshalla , Thatri , Chiralla , Marmat and Doda area which were part of Bhaderwah Wazere Wazarat . Over a period of time, new Sub divisions and Tehsils were created in Bhaderwah constituency and none took any initiative to accord district status to Bhaderwah . He also informed that the people from Bhaderwah want revival of lost glory as still jurisdiction of Bhaderwah Development Authority is in whole Doda district and jurisdiction of forest division and ASP Bhaderwah is upto Bhlessa , Thatri and Chiralla and Union government should declare district status to Bhaderwah as people of Bhaderwah have high hope from Prime Minister Narindra Modi and Lt Gov Manoj Sinha . “Our demand had been overlooked in 2006 when the then chief minister created more districts in Chenab Valley and sub divisions within Bhaderwah constituency but ignored Bhaderwah without any reason and eeven not upgraded Chinta and Athkar area of Bhaderwah to block and Tehsils . Strangely, Bhaderwah was not considered though it has all the criteria to become a district as first degree college of whole Chenab valley was opened at Bhaderwah in year 1955 and in year 2006-7 new colleges were opened in other parts of Doda district . Since 2000 , we have been agitating regularly to press for the demand of a separate district Bhaderwah ,” Advocate Mohd Majid Malik said and appeal to people to be united and raise the issue on all forums .
