    PDP demands immediate setting up of Oxygen Generation Plants in Doda Kishtwar

    Kishtwar May 03 :–Sheikh Nasir Hussain Advocate, State Secretary, People’s Democratic Party, has expressed concern over the situation created by the outbreak of Corona virus pandemic.
    In a press statement, Sheikh Nasir urged the district administration Kishtwar and Doda to complete the work of oxygen plants being constructed in each of the two districts as soon as possible and make them operational.
    He has further said that in the current situation where major hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar are failing to provide facilities to the people, steps be taken in the hilly districts of Kishtwar and Doda where there is already a lack of medical facilities to avoid any major trouble in future.
    Oxygen plants must be ready as soon as possible to prevent oxygen shortages in these areas, said PDP Secretary.
    Sheikh Nasir has appealed all the people to take precautionary measures to avoid corona virus, use masks and also maintain social dispensing. He appealed to the people not to come out of their homes without any reason.

    Increase in Covid-19 patients at Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) Rajouri with every coming day has also increased the demand for medical oxygen and the hospital authorities reportedly facing problems to meet the required needs.
    To meet the medical oxygen demand at GMC&AH ,the higher Health Department Authorities have rushed an Oxygen Concentrator Plant (OCP) to GMC&AH Rajouri from Srinagar which is under installation.
    Rajesh Shavan, Deputy Commissioner today visited the GMC&AH to see the progress. Dr. Mehmood Bazar, Medical Superintendent apprised the DC that the plant would be made operational within the next two days.
    “The plant will produce 1000 litre oxygen per minute (LPM) and would help in augmenting bed capacity in the district for better treatment of Covid-19 patients” said Dr. Mehmood.
    According to official reports 109 new positive cases have been reported from across the district after aggressive RAT & RT-PCR testing while 5 persons died in the district due to Covid-19 today.
    The number of active cases has reached 1228 while the death toll raised to 73.

    Rajouri district has become the 2nd district in Jammu province (after Jammu district) having the highest number of active cases and deaths.
    Out of 5246 active cases in the district 3945 were tested negative and now have recovered.
    As per reports 63 patients are under treatment in GMC & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) at Rajouri out of which 60 are on oxygen support and 3 under treatment in the ICU.
    The condition of few patients was said to be serious. The saturation level of most of the patients is below 80 percent.
    The oxygen saturation in the blood should stay around 95 to 100 percent. However, if it falls below 90, then it is known as ‘hypoxemia’.
    The heart and brain may stop functioning properly if the saturation level is below 80 which could lead to failure of respiratory organs or cardiac arrest.
    After a large number of positive cases coming on a daily basis in the district, health department under the supervision of Dr. Shamim-un-Nisa, CMO has been doing aggressive tracking, tracing, and testing of the contacts of already positive cases.

    Rajouri, May 03:– Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today paid a visit to GMC&AH and took stock of the progress on the oxygen concentrator plant under installation, quality health services, medical facilities being provided to the patients and Covid arrangements here.

    Among the others, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Sharmim Un Nissa Bhatti; Block Medical, Medical Superintendent DH, Dr Mehmood; Assistant Executive Engineer Mechanical, Vinod Sharma and paramedical staff of the GMC&AH were present on the occasion.

    Deputy Commissioner was apprised that the capacity of the Oxygen concentrator plant being installed in the GMC&AH is 1000 litre per min(LPM) and work on the installation of the plant would be completed within two days in all respect.

    Deputy Commissioner was further apprised that the upcoming Oxygen concentrator Plant will help in augmenting bed capacities in the district for successful treatment of Covid-19 positive patients.

    The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the concerned executing agency for the speedy execution of the work on the installation of the plant and asked them to further speed up the pace so that the plant can be made available within the shortest possible time for the convenience of the COVID patients.

    The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned Health Authorities to put in place extra efforts to provide the best possible and quality health services to the patients so that they don’t feel any inconveniences.

    The Deputy Commissioner also urged the public to follow all the SOPs regarding COVID19 and help the District Administration to mitigate the pandemic in the district.

    Kishtwar May 03 :–Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma alongwith the Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Bhatt today conducted surprise market inspection at Kishtwar town and took stock of the Implementation of the COVID 19 guidelines and SOPs.

    He was accompained by ASP Kishtwar Mushim Ahmed Choudhary, SDPO Atholi Paddar Pardeep sen, SHO Kishtwar Abid Bukhari, NT Kishtwar Javeed Ahmed Khandey besides other officials of MC kishtwar.

    During the inspection of town he urged the shopkeepers to sincerely follow the COVID 19 appropriate behaviour besides sought the cooperation of the public to fight against the revamping pandemic.

    He along with SSP Kishtwar also visited District Hospital Kishtwar and inspected the ongoing civil work of Oxygen generation plant, there besides took stock of the COVID19 preparedness there in hospital.

    During inspection he directed the officer of executing agency to work in double shifts so as to to complete the civil work of the OGP within the week of time besides directed Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar to ensure the installation of Oxygen generator immediately so that this lifeline project may be completed well in time keeping in view the Covid-19 scenario and it should be taken on priority basis for the safety and security of the patients.

    MS District Hospital Kishtwar Dr Parveez Iqbal Wani apprised the DC that the machinery for oxygen generation plant is on the way and shall reach to Kishtwar within days and shall be installed as soon as OGP hall shall be completed by the PWD department.

    While speaking on the occasion DC Kishtwar informed that all the critical care machinery have been placed in by the district administration which includes the preparation of 70 bedded COVID care centres at DH Kishtwar,150 bedded COVID centre at Chatroo,100 bedded COVID care centres each at Paddar and Sarthal besides 20 bedded ICU for critical care has been established in the DH Kishtwar to deal with critical emergency, he further informed.

    Meanwhile he conducted the surprise inspection at various market places includes old Bus stand,Gudhali chowk,Hidyal chowk,Bun Astan market,Tapal market etc

    He said that purpose of conducting such inspection is to controll and monitor the unnecessary gathering at the market places besides to sensitize the masses about the usage of the face masks and ensure the implementation of odd-even formula for opening of shops and ensure the occupation of only 50% seats in all the vehicles.

    During his visit he urged the shopkeepers to sincerely follow the COVID 19 appropriate behaviour besides sought the public cooperation in the effective implementation of guidelines issued by govt for the effective management and containment of resurging COVID19.

    He asked SSP Kishtwar to gear up field agencies and to ensure the effective implementation of Universal usage of face masks and avoid unnecessary gathering at public places besides asked to fine the defaulters.

    Besides EO Municipal Council Kishtwar was directed to ensure the evacuation of vendors alongside the road besides and to ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of public places.
