PAGD exists for larger cause not for ‘petty’ electoral gains:Mehbooba Mufti
Srinagar 12 April : Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti said that the People’s Alliance For Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was formed to fight for the restoration of special status of Jammu and Kashmir not for petty electoral gains.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Membership drive at her Gupkar residence, Mehbooba said that Gun has never been a solution of any problem and asked the youth to follow democratic track to force the two countries to address the issue for which they are giving their lives.
“Some people want to see youth of Kashmir with weapons so that they can project them as terrorists to the world”,she added.
Responding to a question whether she feels that she will be detained again, “The way the central government is after the PDP by forcing leaders to part ways from PDP, threating them; summoning me from last two years and now summoning my mother. There may be time when they will summon my children, my brother.”
On being asked about the future of PAGD as there has been not a single meeting from last three months, she said, “Every party has right to hold Programmes on party basis. As far as PAGD is concerned, It exists for a much larger cause & purpose i.e to restore J&Ks special status.”
Replying over extension of Delimitation commission process and delay in assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, she said, “Central government will always want to rule J&K directly,” she said, “If J&K will have its own elected government, they think there intervention will minimise in taking decisions here”, she added.
