    JAMMU, February 21: Popular Mad Glad and Orange restaurants were among 32 commercial establishments, which prime facie appears to have been constructed on State land from Narwal to Sidhra Bypass road were sealed by the District Administration today.

    Out of 32 establishments, the list of which is in possession of EXCELSIOR, 22 were on State or Jammu Development Authority (JDA) land.

    The operation to seal the establishments was led by Tehsildar Jammu. The assistance was also sought from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and Sidhra Police Post.

    However, no resistance or untoward incident was reported during the drive to seal these establishments.
    Official sources said that the District Administration Jammu has passed directions regarding closure of all restaurants functional on State land along the bypass road that runs from Narwal-Sidhra connecting with Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

    They said that the owners have been directed to produce documents and record of land, adding, “those found illegally raised without permission and required formalities, have to face the music”.
    Meanwhile, police sources said that these points were reportedly becoming favourite destinations for youngsters and they remain open till late evenings.
    These fancy and well designed food points have emerged as hub to freak out for youth especially the college goers, police sources added.
    Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan said, “Around 29 structures, which prima facie appear to have been constructed on State land from Narwal to Sidhra were closed down by the administration.
    “It is clarified that other commercial establishments on same road, which are not currently believed to be on State land are operating normally. Further proceedings will be initiated by Revenue officials immediately and in case the owners have any legal and valid claim, that shall be duly considered before any measure is taken”, she added.
    As per data available with the Excelsior, the drive to seal these establishments was conducted on around 30 kanals of land.

    District Administration Rajouri in collaboration with KVIB organises Mega Awareness Mela

    Rajouri, February, 21: The seven days long Mega Awareness cum Exhibition Mela organised by the District Administration Rajouri in collaboration with KVIB culminated here today at the PWD Dakbunglow Rajouri.

    The valedictory function was attended by the District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan.

    Vice Chairman J&K KVIB, Hina Shafi Bhat who is on a two days visit to the District was also present during the valedictory function.

    Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir and other district officers were also present on the occasion.

    The Mega Awareness cum Exhibition Mela was organised under National SC/ST Hub (NSSH) scheme of the Government which would provide professional support to the SC/ST enterprises thereby enabling them to effectively participate in the public procurement process.

    Thousands of People from all sections of the society and officials thronged the event and participated in the mela and availed the necessary benefits.

    More than twenty five stalls displaying different items were set up by the SC ST MSMEs which includes Honey, Readymade Garments, Carry Bags, Food based products and track suits, furniture, black smithy etc.

    Moreover, Departments like Animal husbandry, Sheep Husbandry , Handicrafts, Handlooms, Agriculture Sericulture,and Banks had also set up their stalls in the Exhibition displaying their different employment Schemes.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hina Shafi Bhatt said that Government of India has formulated the Public Procurement Policy 2012, according to which 20 percent of total procurement of goods and services by Central Ministries, departments and CPSEs shall be made from MSMEs and 4 percent of such procurement shall be from SC and ST owned MSMEs and NSSH is an initiative of the Government of India to develop a supportive ecosystem to focus on the growth of SC-ST MSMEs

    She added that the Department of the Khadi Village Industries Board is committed to take all possible steps to ensure the socio-economic development of the SC and ST population and such awareness mela would continue to be organised in near future.

    Addressing the participants, the DDC said that such exhibitions is a positive stride towards the development and upliftment of the SC and ST community.He informed that at least 04 percent of the total procurement of the products by the central as well as the UT Government should be from the SC and SC community.

    DDC also urged upon the masses to ensure their maximum participation in such programmes as such awareness melas provide an opportunity for the public to directly interact with the field functionaries of different Departments and they are made aware of the several welfare schemes being launched by the Government for their well-being.

    DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir was the stage secretary on the occasion and the whole programme was coordinated and well managed by the DSEO.

    Rajouri, February, 21:District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan on Sunday kick started work on the Bus Stand at Bella Colony.

    Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh; Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri, Mohd Zubair; Executive Officer Municipal Council Rajouri besides the President MC Rajouri, Mohd Arief were present on the occasion.

    DDC while talking to the media persons said that the work was projected by the MC Rajouri during the ‘My town my pride’ programme. He also informed that the the estimated cost of Rs 10.00 lacs.

    DDC highlighted the significance of the project saying that the congestion of the town will be reduced to a great extent with the completion of work on the said project. It will also act as an alternative parking place for the city.

    DDC also informed that at inception only land labelling will be done so that it can be used as a parking site besides he added that the work on the project will be completed in one week.

    The Deputy Commissioner also visited the GMC ans AH at Nagrota and reviewed the progress of the Project. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Contractor and the PWD authorities to complete this vital project at the earliest.

    Rajouri February 21:–Continuing crackdown on the illegalities and unauthorised occupants of the Government Buildings, a team of district administration Rajouri headed by Tehsildar Manjakote vacated a school building GMS Thala Kakora and a Veterinary Dispensary Manjakote. The complete exercise was carried out on the directions and supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan.

    Pertinent to mention here that, Government Middle School Thala Kakora and building of Veterinary Dispensery Centre Manjakote were under illegal possession for so many years.

    “The building have been Vaccated and handed over to the concerned Departments for futher public use”, Javid Ahmed Tehsildar Manjakote informed.

    The Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration is committed to reclaim all the government buildings which has been encorached upon or under illegal possession.

    As of now 13 government buildings have been vacated from the illegal possession.
