    Film Director wishes to make a movie on the life of Basant Rath

    Srinagar, June 17, KNT: Indian film director, producer and screenwriter who is known for his works in Hindi cinema has expressed his desire to make a bollywood movie on the life of ‘controversial’ police officer Basant Rath.

    Basant Rath is 2000 batch IPS officer who belongs to the Jammu and Kashmir cadre.

    “Some day I wish to make a film on the life of this enigmatic poet/ police officer. Janam din mubarak Basant. People like you are so hard to find,” Mahesh Bhatt tweeted along with a photograph of Rath with the caption.

    Basant Rath according to news agency KNT is known for his candid comments and behavior. His tweets always attract the attention of his foes and friends alike. Sometimes, his tweets offend even his friends.

    He became a house hold name in Jammu and Kashmir after assuming charge of traffic department.

    In2018, Rath was removed from his post as IGP, Traffic as he got involved in a major brawl with former Srinagar Mayor Junaid Matoo whom he called a ‘cabbage’, probably for his remarks on wet lands. (KNT)

    Jaipur: Police have registered an FIR against a television news anchor for allegedly making an objectionable comment on Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

    The FIR was lodged after a complaint against News 18 India anchor Amish Devgan by a ‘khadim’ at the saint’s dargah in Ajmer on Tuesday night.

    Jammu, June 17 : All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF) Incharge Jammu Province, Ch. Sanjay Singh Sandhu wrote representations to Union HRD Ministry, Union Home Affairs, Lt. Governor of UT of J&K and UT Higher Education Department for reviewing the decision of various authorities vide their notifications for holding examinations of Jammu University, Cluster Universities and other Universities/colleges of Jammu Division for various Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses during this global pandemic.

    While issuing press statement Ch. Sanjay Singh Sandhu said that AJKYF has highlighted all the genuine demands of the students and has appealed to the administration for promoting all the UG and PG courses students. Mr. Sandhu has also highlighted the problems being faced by the students reading in Jammu Division during this global pandemic and restriction imposed on high speed internet due to which the students are being deprived of e-learning making them difficult to attend online lectures or download heavy files of study material and particularly those students who do not afford to have smart phones or laptops are unable to get any kind of study material because of which they become handicap to prepare for their exams.

    Ch. Sanjay Sandhu also stressed upon the conducting of examinations where students are deprived of proper teaching and study material which will also result in decrease of their efficiency for scoring and compete for various government as well as private jobs. It was also addressed that it will be difficult to trace out the travel history of each and every student while conducting examination as students having travel history from red zone areas or close contact of covid-19 positive cases will be a life threat to the students and the examiners.

    Ch. Sanjay Singh Sandhu further stated that due to the situation leading towards community spread of the deadly disease of covid-19 fear among the students and simultaneously considering mass promotion for the students of Kashmir Division and many colleges of the country and conducting examination for the students of Jammu Division despite being one Union territory is injustice with the students reading in the colleges and universities of Jammu Division

    Rajouri, June,17:To encourage the efforts of the One-Stop Centre Rajouri for strengthening and empowering the women and safeguarding their rights, BJP President J&K, Ravinder Raina awarded the Administrator One Stop Centre for women Rajouri, Neetu Sharma here at a function held at Trikuta Nagar in BJP office.J&K BJP Mahila Morcha Incharge, Prerna Nanda was also present on the occasion.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr Raina appreciated the role played by the One-Stop Centre Rajouri for women welfare and in safeguarding their rights and lauded the centre for its dedication and commitment for overall women welfare in the district. He also said that it is because of the non-stop endeavours of the centre that the women are now aware of various state and centric women welfare schemes and are able to avail the benefits of these schemes.

    He asked the Administrator OSC to continue to work with the same zeal to ensure that the women issues are resolved on a timely basis so that their sufferings can be mitigated. He added that women are nowhere less than men in their talent and have shown their calibre in different fields.

    Mr Raina has also praised the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh for his role in the effective management of COVID19 in the district and expressed that it is because of the leading role of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and his tireless and valuable efforts that the sufferings of the common masses amid COVID19 pandemic have reduced to a great extent.

    It is noteworthy to mention here that the One-Stop Centre Rajouri has already settled 200 cases related to women and thus delivered justice to the females who were facing great problems due to one or the other reasons. The centre has also played a vital role in disseminating information among women of the district about various schemes launched by the Government with the sole aim to ensure their welfare in the society and also to enable them to stand on their own so that they can live a respectful life.

    Moreover, the centre has also done a tremendous job amid CoronaVirus pandemic by distributing personal protection items including masks and sanitizers among the common masses and also made them understand about CoronaVirus infection and the measures which can be taken to remain safe from this invisible enemy of mankind. In addition to this, the centre has also distributed personal hygienic kits among women.

    3 National Awards in 3 months

    Rajouri,June 17:– The Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj has once again awarded another national award to two Panchayats of Rajouri district for their impressive performance in furthering empowerment of Gram panchayats.

    Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP), 2020 has been awarded to three Panchayats of Union Territory of Jammmu and Kashmir, two from Rajouri and one from Pulwama district.

    Panchayat Rathal of block Rajouri and Panchayat Badakana of Plangar block have been awarded the national award for empowerment of panchayats through innovative interventions at various levels.

    Rajouri district was very recently (April, 2020) awarded two national awards Viz. Child-friendly Gram Panchayat Award, 2020 and Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar, 2020.

    Rajouri’s Panchayat Officer, Dr Abdul Khabir credited successive national level awards to people’s active participation in planning and implementation of various RDD schemes and receptivity and prompt execution of innovative suggestions by PRIs at various levels.

    He said JK’s Panchayati Raj Secretary Sheetal Nanda has been persistent in ensuring that focus remains on massive public participation and keen interest and involvement of educated youth in planning and execution of works for social and economic development in villages.

    Nazir Sheikh, Rajouri’s Development Commissioner told this reporter that these achievements are the outcome of people’s participation in planning and execution of development works. He dedicated the awards to PRIs and officers/officials of Panchayat department.

    Sheikh who also headed UT’s Panchayats department as Director Panchayats said since the successful conduct of elections to PRIs, there is keen interest and motivation among people at village level to lead in furthering social and economic development at the grass root level.

    Proliferation of democracy at village level and decentralised planning and execution by people themselves is key to empowerment of all at Panchayat level, he added.
