    A B Wani

Srinagar, May 15 (GNS): The family members of Kralpora woman, who died on Tuesday after allegedly consuming poison at her in-laws’ house, staged a protest on Wednesday, alleging it was a “murder”.

The family and relatives of the deceased Yasmeena Akthar daughter of Mohammad Ramzan Kumar of Kralpora blocked the Alamdar Charisharief – Srinagar road at Kralpora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam District for some time and demanded justice.

“It is a baseless story that Yasmeena died after committing suicide. She was poisoned to death by her in-laws,” the family alleged.

Yasmeena according to the family was 4-month-old pregnant.

As per her family, she died at her husband’s residence at Charisharief during the intervening night of May 13 and 14. She was declared brought dead by doctors at SMHS.

“The in-laws including the husband of the deceased woman are giving different versions with regard to her death,” they said, adding that since Yasmeena’s wedding last year she was being harrased by in-laws and termed her death as murder.

The family said that they have approached police station concerned with regard to the murder and urged police to file an FIR and initiate an inquiry into it.

Meanwhile, on the assurance of SHO concerned that police will probe the matter, the protesting family dispersed off peacefully. (GNS) Kashmir

  • Neither BJP nor NDA will form govt at Centre: Azad

Neither BJP nor NDA will form govt at Centre: Azad

Patna: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Wednesday claimed that neither BJP nor NDA will form the government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections.

Narendra Modi will not become prime minister for second time after the election as a non-NDA, non-BJP government will be formed at the Centre, he claimed.
“We are in the last phase of elections and I can say on the basis of my experience during campaigning across the country that neither BJP nor NDA is going to return to power at the Centre.

“Narendra Modi is also not going to become the prime minster for the second time … Non-NDA non-BJP government will be installed at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections,” he told reporters here.

Azad said it will be good if there is a consensus on Congress leader’s name for heading the government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha election results are out but “we are not going to make it an issue that we (Cong) will not let any other (leader) to become the PM, if it is not offered to us (Cong).”
The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said the sole objective of the Congress is to stop the NDA from forming the government at the Centre and installing a non-NDA government.
BJP would be reduced to 125 Lok Sabha seats, he claimed while refusing to divulge as how many seats Congress will win in the elections.
Azad said the BJP has been “thoroughly exposed” after coming to power at the Centre in 2014 as it has followed its ideology of “creating hatred and divide” in the society.
He said the BJP government’s policy and principle have been exposed as the party of “capitalists and industrialists”.

Azad alleged that the BJP government has followed a “pro-rich” policy.

All the major sections of the society – farmers, youths, women and labourers are a depressed lot today because of the “wrong” policy of the Central government, he said, adding that youths were “promised” 10 crore jobs by Narendra Modi in five years but it instead snatched 4.73 crore jobs due to demonetization and faulty implementation of GST.
Taking a swipe at PM’s statement on science related issues, he said that “After seeing the PM’s statement relating to science, I think I should commit suicide.”
Azad condemned the smashing of the bust of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, a noted philosopher and a key figure of Bengal Renaissance, during the clash between BJP and TMC supporters during Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata on Tuesday and said stern action should be taken against those responsible for it. @PTI

World is saying BJP is dangerous for democracy: Akhilesh Yadav*

“Today the world has started saying that the BJP is dangerous for democracy. The world’s biggest magazine has written that these are the very people who have divided society,” Yadav said, referring to the cover story of the Time magazine.

“BJP people were talking about ‘achhe din’, which did not come. The very foundation of BJP is based on lies and hatred and the alliance will rock it,” he said.

Addressing rally for Ram Bhuwal Nishad, the alliance candidate from the prestigious Gorakhpur seat, Akhilesh said the BJP, which ran the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, has been wiped out off Uttar Pradesh by the people in the five phases of polling so far.

“Polling in Gorakhpur is slated for the seventh phase. This is the phase of the alliance. I do not see BJP opening its account,” he said.

The SP president said the prime minister is charging the previous governments with encouraging terrorism and the Uttar Pradesh chief minister is also talking about the same. He wanted to know how can the government tackle terrorism if the ruling party is scared of a dismissed jawan.

“If they save the people from stray cattle that would be a big thing. Leave alone terrorism,” he said, claiming in the past two-three months, 11 people had lost their lives in Lucknow in stray bull attacks.
