    Father-son duo arrested by Rajouri police, 2334 banned addiction tablets, capsules recovered

    Rajouri,March 17 :–In a major success against drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district arrested a father-son duo for smuggling of banned drugs addiction tablets and capsules recovering 2334 from their possession.

    A team of Rajouri police station headed by SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Govind Rattan along with a team of Police Component (Special Operation Group) under the supervision of DySP PC Rajouri, Pranav Mahajan was on routine vehicular checking duty at Salani Bridge when a bus on way from Jammu to Rajouri was put to checking.

    Cops started general frisking of passengers when two persons started to hide their bags and were seen behaving suspiciously after coming to know about police checking.

    Taking note of their activities , their belongings were put to thorough frisking when a huge number of capsules and tablets of banned drugs addiction were seized from their possession.

    The recovered material include 1224 Spasmo Proxyon Capsules, 540 Alprasafe tablets and 570 Ativan tablets.

    Duo were taken into custody from the spot after recovery and have been identified as
    Manzoor Hussain son of Mohammad Bashir and his son Waqar Ahmed, residents of Chandimarh Surankote, at present Ward No.9 Rajouri town.

    A FIR No. 118/2019 under sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered in police station Rajouri .

    Senior Superintendent of Police, Yougal Manhas said that the team of Rajouri police station and Police Component Rajouri achieved this major success by arresting the father son duo as they were going to enter Rajouri along with a major consignment of capsules and tablets used by drugs addicts .

    SSP Rajouri also said that authorities are going to take some more stern steps against people involved in drugs and narcotics peddling in Rajouri district in days to come.

    Five days ago, a man from Thanamandi has also been detained for public safety and lodged in Jammu jail after orders of detention issued were by Divisional Commissioner Jammu on the dossier submitted by District Police Rajouri.

    Shopian Administration Starts Snow Clearance Work On Mughal Road

    SHOPIAN :–District Administration Shopian today initiated snow clearance work on Mughal Road for its earliest reopening. The Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian Mohammad Salim Malik kickstarted the snow clearance work on historic road at Heerpora from Shopian side. Present on the occasion were Executive Engineer Mughal Road Division Shopian, Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Shopian, AEE Mechanical, field staff and local residents of Heerpora.

    The ADDC was apprised that required men and machinery has been put in place for snow clearance on historic Mughal Road and if needed more machinery will be managed from Baramulla and Anantnag for time bound clearance of snow. Concerned officers were impressed upon to expedite the process of snow clearance and complete it within 20 days so that the road can be thrown open for traffic.

    While talking to media persons the ADDC expressed hope that snow will be cleared within 15-20 days given the efficient team of engineers and sufficient number of machines on the job. Locals also hailed the district administration for taking up clearance work at such an early time. Pertinently, the road was closed for heavy and light traffic in mid of December last year due to frequent snow fall and slippery condition of the road.
