
Kolkata, March,16:–Mohammad Aijaz Asad ,a young urdu poet from Jammu and Kashmir was conferred with Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Yuva Award 2018 for his book Barf Zaar at Kolkata.
He has been presented with the Award by Honb’le Governor of West Bengal Shri Keshrinath Tripathi at an impressive Award ceremony held at Kolkata today in presence of a galaxy of audience from the world of Literature.
Other awardees include Dr. Kusum Ansal(Hindi), Shri Bandari Rajkumar (Telugu) and Smt. Koshiki Das Gupt(Bangla).
Mohammad Aijaz Asad is a Jammu and Kashmir cadre IAS officer of 2012 batch hailing from border district Poonch is also a nationally acknowledged emerging young poet. He has participated in various national and international Mushairas/Kavi Sammelans. His debutant poetry composition- Barf Zaar – was selected for Bhasha Parishad Yuva Puruskar for the year 2018- a prestigious literature award -by the jury amongst dozens of creative works across the country.
The book, published in 2018, has a foreword by Gulzar, acclaimed Bollywood lyricist, and director. Few of his ghazals have been sung by renowned singers.
In his views about the author, renowned poet and critic Shams Ur Rehman Farooqi has written that Mr. Asad has captured the true picture of human feelings of elation and despair. In addition, he says that Aijaz Asad has been successful in highlighting the evils plaguing the society. He has praised the young poet, for his continuous efforts to give a fresh perspective to his writings.
Mr Aijaz Asad who belongs to village Dharana of Mendhar, Poonch is presently serving as Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri District. Earlier he served as Deputy Commissioner Shopian,Deputy Commissioner,Poonch and also held important posting in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Various Newspapers published from Kolkata have highlighted the contribution of Shri Aijaz Asad in the field of Urdu poetry.
A large number of noted speakers were present in the award ceremony said that an artist need to be serious in his talent and only than he can achieve good results.
Speaking about the prestigious Award at such an early age, Aijaz Asad said: *Every man, and in fact, every artist, wants to be recognized. I never expected this Award to come my way so early. I think Bhasha Parishad has been generous enough to consider me for this honour. I express my gratitude to the people and friends who helped and supported me through the journey. I Thank those who admire my poetry. Special thanks to those who criticise it. They compel me write better. One ghazal/nazm can be a powerful means of stirring the greatest number of people by offering them a picture of common joys and sufferings with utmost brevity. To construct this picture one needs to understand the situation rather than judging it. *
