    Governor reviews Law & Order Situation in Jammu and Kashmir Asks people to remain Calm & Peaceful

     

    JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26: Governor Satya Pal Malik reviewed the prevailing Law and Order situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the Operation conducted against Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Camp in Balakot.

    The meeting was attended by Shri K. Vijay Kumar, Advisor to Governor; Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Shri Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home; Shri Dilbagh Singh, DGP; Dr. B. Srinivas, ADGP, CID; Shri Munir Khan, ADGP, Law & Order; Shri V.S. Kaumudi, ADG, CRPF; Shri N.S. Jamwal, IG, BSF and representatives of other agencies.

    In the meeting, Governor was briefed about the prevailing Law & Order and Security situation in the State following the early morning operations against JeM. Governor was informed that the life in both Kashmir Valley and in Jammu region was normal.People went about their daily activities without any fear or tension. Bazars in Srinagar and Jammu were full of people going about their work and Transport plied normally.

    Governor was also informed of the Bandh call given by some Separatist elements for tomorrow.

    After assessing the Law and Order situation in the State, Governor directed all Forces to take effective measures to maintain public order and peace across the State. He complimented the people of Jammu and Kashmir for remaining composed today and not getting unnecessarily alarmed. Governor directed the Security Forces to take all possible steps to ensure that civilians remain safe in case of any eventuality.

    Governor appealed to the people not to listen or believe rumours being circulated in social media or through other means. He said that the government is concerned about people’s welfare and in case it is necessary, it would communicate directly with them through radio, T.V. and other means. Maintenance of calm attitude is priority at this juncture, he said and asked people to carry on their normal activities without any undue stress or fear.

    Rajouri Feb. 26: The training to the polling personnel of District Rajouri in view of upcoming General Elections/ State Assembly elections started from yesterday. The three-day training program will be conducted by district and Area level master trainers.

    The training was provided in the conference Hall of Government PG College Rajouri, GDC Nowshera, Government Boys Higher secondary Schools SunderBani, Boys higher secondary school Darhal, Boys higher secondary school kotranka, boys higher secondary school manjakote, and GDC Thanamandi.

    The trainees were acquainted with the operation of EVMs, VVPATS and allied papers for the smooth conduct of forthcoming General/state Assembly elections. A total of 4000 polling personnel members from different Departments attended the training and have been trained in all respects.

    The training was moderated by Nodal officer for Training, Assistant Commissioner Development Rajouri Akhter Qazi under the overall supervision and directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad.

    The ACD Rajouri addressed to the polling personnel, undergoing training for the upcoming General/state assembly elections and apprised the master trainers and poll personnel for their dedication in training. He said it is essential for every member involved in the election mechanism to understand his role and responsibilities properly and thereafter they shall perform their duties in a professional and most competent manner for the successful conduct of elections in the district.

    He advised the trainees to go through the Election handbooks for acquiring proper knowledge about the poll process. All facilities and proper support from the district administration will be provided to the polling personnel.

    During the training, the participants were briefed about the duties and functions of polling officers.They were advised to monitor the activities in the polling booth promptly.

    He asked the polling personnel to perform their duties with utmost dedication and strictly adhere to the guidelines of ECI for smooth conduct of Elections.
