    Chaman Lal, a Kashmiri Pandit lives alone at his native village Zainapora Shopian . But he never felt lonely as he had a companion in Mir Anwar- his childhood friend, from a nearby Babapora village.

    Chaman Lal is blind for the last 35 years. Since Chaman Lal can’t move around, his friend Anwer Mir pays a visit to him everyday for the past 35 years to help him to take a stroll in the surroundings.

    JAMMU Feb 22: J&K Bank, towards its commitment to support student welfare dedicated an ambulance to the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri. Bank’s Zonal Head for Rajouri and Poonch Mohd Shafi Salroo handed over the keys of the ambulance to the Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Dr Javed Mussarat in presence of Prof Iqbal Parwez Dean Academic Affairs, Registar Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri, Prof G.M. Malik Dean of students, Prof Mohd Aagher Dean Engineering, Prof Naseem Ahmed Dean Management, Mr Mohd Ishaq Controller of Examinations, senior bank officials, faculty members and a large gathering of students in a simple but impressive function held at BGSBU Rajouri.
    Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Mussarat while acknowledging the proactive role played by J&K Bank in socio economic empowerment of the people in Jammu and Kashmir expressed his gratitude to the Bank for providing state of the art doorstep banking facilities to the faculty and students besides collaborating on multitude of initiatives of the University. The Vice Chancellor added, “The ambulance dedicated under CSR initiative by the Bank shall be of immense help not only for the students and staff of the university but also for the locals hailing from this hilly area. I have every hope that the relation with J&K Bank will touch new heights under the dynamic leadership of Parvez Ahmed Chairman and CEO J&K Bank who is very keen on fostering industry academia partnership in the state for the betterment of the society by harnessing intellectual capabilities”.
    Speaking on the occasion the Bank’s Zonal Head said, “J&K Bank as a premier flagship company of the state functions not only as a commercial institution, but as a responsible Corporate Citizen also understands its responsibility for upgradation of social infrastructure in the state. Bank has under taken many CSR initiatives in the state, particularly in the institutions of higher learning for wellbeing of students. The dedication of ambulance to BGSBU further emphasizes Bank’s continued commitment towards causes of social relevance.”

  • Man held for manufacturing liquor in Kalakote Police Public meetings held at Galuti, Maira villages

     

    Rajouri Feb 22:- olice on Friday arrested a man from Pathera village of Kalakote for illegal manufacturing and sale of desi liquor in the area.

    Based upon a specific information regarding manufacturing and sale of desi liquor by two persons namely Jogiter Singh son of Angrez Singh and Swaran Singh son of Jagat Singh, both residents of Pathera , a team headed by SHO Kalakote Mustaj Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera Brijesh Sharma and Additional SP Nowshera GL Sharma raided in pathera forest area.

    During the raid the said persons were nabbed while manufacturing desi liquor illegally.

    The desi liquor along with lahan and utensils meant for manufacturing liquor was recoverd and seized on spot .

    FIR no 11/2019 under sections 48(a) (e) excise act has been registerd at police station Kalakot and duo have been arrested.

    Further investigation is going on.

    Police Public Meet

    Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday conducted two separate police public interaction meetings at Galuti village of Police Station Manjakote and Maira village of Police Station Rajouri.

    In Galuti, meeting was chaired by SDPO Manjakote Nisar Khoja in which local people took part and put forth a number of issues of local level.

    People especially raised problem of dilapidated road condition.

    Officer assured the participants that their issues will be communicated to concerned authorities through district police office.

    Another meeting was held in Maira village of Rajouri which was chaired by SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider.

    Several issues were discussed in the meeting wherein participants were exhorted upon to keep extending best possible cooperation to police.

    Rajouri Feb.22: Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today visited forward areas of LoC in Nowshera and Sunderbani sector to take the first-hand appraisal from local populace in view of frequent cease fire violations and shelling in past few days.

    The DC was accompanied by senior superintendent of police, Yougal Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nowshera Vinod Bhel, Executive engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Assistant Director FCS& CA, Mohd Mukhtar, Tehsildar Nowshera, Block Development officer Nowshera, Sheetal Sharma, ARTO Neeraj Sharma, and inspector MVD Rajeev Bhasin.
    During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the affected people from cross border shelling.

    The Deputy Commissioner was apprised of several issues like immediate constructions of new individual and community bunkers, proper rehabilitation of border people who are forced to leave their house during cease fire violations and have to stay at relief centres. They also demanded deputation of special veterinary doctors for treatment of injured livestock. In this regard, decision has been taken to operate Veterinary sub centre on temporary basis. Regarding construction of bunkers, Deputy Commissioner informed that 145 community and individual bunkers in Nowshera region and 20 more in Sunderbani are at different phases of execution.

    Moreover, DDC also took the first-hand appraisal of the measures being put in place to provide necessary help to the affected people. He also directed the officers to station at headquarters to redress the problems of the people and ensure the provision of all the basic amenities so that the people do not face any hardship. Deputy Commissioner also inquired about the the contingency plan for setting up of the relief centres if required in wake of any further intensification along the LoC.

    Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner also visited the construction sites of bunkers along LoC being executed by the PWD in the areas which experienced repeatedly ceasefire violation. These Bunkers include the community as well as individual and the concerned executing agency was directed to speed up the work for early completion of bunkers.

    It is pertinent to mention here that 23 villages in Nowshera are affected during the cross border shelling out of which 12 are severely affected. In Sunderbani 6 villages are vulnerable.
