    Man held for smuggling liquor

    RajouriJ ,an 26A :-Aman has been arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police for smuggling liquor.

    In view of Republic Day celebrations, a team of police headed by Incharge police post Chatyar, Sanjay Raina laid a naka at Sawani Morh for vehicle frisking when a pedestrian was seen moving towards the checkpoint.

    But soon after noticing the cops, the said man started to move back which developed suspicion and cops on duty chased the said man.

    The man identified as Radesh Kumar son of Behari Lal resident of Kallar was nabbed after a chase and a bag in his possession was put to frisking and 52 bottles of liquor were recovered and seized.

    A case in relevant sections of law has been registered in police station.

    Rajouri Jan.26: In connection with celebrations of 70th Republic-Day, functions were held across the District with great enthusiasm and fervor today.
    The main function was held at District Police Line where Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Mohammad Aijaz Asad unfurled the national flag and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of JK Police, JKAP, CRPF, Ladies Police, Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets and students from different schools and hostels.
    Among others, Deputy Inspector General Of police Rajouri Poonch Range, Deepak Kumar Salathia, senior superintendent of police, Rajouri, Yougal Manhas, Principal of PG degree College Rajouri, Registrar BGSBU, Rajouri, ex-legislators, senior citizens, senior officers of civil administration, Police and Paramilitary Forces besides large gathering of people attended the function.
    Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted various developmental works undertaken in Rajouri District. He said district administration is making all efforts to provide better civic facilities to the people, besides ensuring efficient public delivery system across the district. He said various initiatives have been taken to make administration accountable, transparent and time-bound so that people do not face any difficulty.

    The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted various welfare schemes launched by the government and appealed people to take maximum benefit from such schemes. He said Governor administration has provided substantial funding to the district under Languishing Projects. He said that two new Degree colleges have been sanctioned for the district Rajouri, he also highlighted that a number of new projects of road connectivity, flood protection, and to provide better drinking facilities to the people are in progress, under the languishing project. He also highlighted that GNM College and mother-child care hospital is under progress.

    On the occasion, different cultural programmes presented by students of different schools and hostels mesmerized the audience.
    Deputy Commissioner on the occasion while commending the participants provided with the mementos and consolation prizes.
    Deputy Commissioner also felicitated the officers for outstanding work and their role in conducting elections. Sher Singh Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Amarjyoti Raina, Deputy District Election Officer, and Abdul Khabir, District panchayat officer, Rajouri were awarded for their role during the urban local body and panchayat elections in the district.
    Besides,Bilal Mir Assistant Director planning was awarded for his meritorious services.District social welfare officer Rajouri,Naseeb Bajaran was also awarded for his services.

    Legal cum probationary officer shivangikant Sudan,Outreach worker Nidhi and administrator one stop centre for women were also awarded for their services in their their respective fields.

    Press club Rajouri was also awarded for their role in highlighting the public issues and also dissemination of information of public importance.

Administration Rajouri on the eve of 70th Republic Day Celebration ,for his life long contribution in the socio-educational upliftment of masses in backward border hilly areas of Peerpanchal Region. Dr Mohd Saleem Wani (his grandson)receieved award on his behalf today on 26th Jan 2019.
    Moreover Kuldeep Eaj Gupta ex vice chairman was also conferred with life time achievement award for his social services for pir panchal Region.

    President of India confers Ashoka Chakra on Ikhwani turned army man Nazir Wani

    New Delhi | Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani, a renegade-turned-army man who was killed by militants in Shopian in Kashmir in November, was awarded the Ashoka Chakra by President of India Ram Nath Kovind Saturday.

    The award  India’s highest peacetime gallantry honour — was received by Wani’s wife and mother at the Republic Day celebrations at Rajpath._

    Wani is the first Kashmiri to be conferred the Ashoka Chakra.On November 25, 38-year-old Wani, hailing from Cheki Ashmuji in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, was killed by a group of militants at Hirapur village near Batgund in Shopian.

    Wani was a recipient of the Sena Medal for gallantry twice in 2007 and 2018.

    Ashoka Chakra is the highest peacetime military decoration for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield.

    Rajouri January, 26: All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF) hails the decision of Sh. Satya Paul Malik, Governor of J&K State for giving 3% reservation to the Pahari Community in a meeting of its executive members held here today.
    Mr. Nakul Sharma, Spokesperson, AJKYF and representative of Pahari Community welcomed the decision of Governor of State for giving 3% reservation to the Pahari Community of the state.
    Mr. Sharma said that because of the remoteness and inaccessibility of the areas of their residence, the Pahari community has historically faced considerable economic distress leading to overall socio-economic backwardness. On one hand, they are not able to compete with other sections of the society who are better placed in terms of socio-economic position as also in terms of access to services like Education and Health Care due to above mentioned disadvantages. On the other hand, the Pahari People are not able to derive any benefit even at the lower rung in respect of getting employment.
    Mr. Sharma demand enhance in the percentage of reservation to 5% and said that 3% reservation is not sufficient for approx 15 lack of pahari speaking community.
    Mr. Sharma also demanded to include Gojjari language to the 8th schedule of Constitution of India.
