RAJOURI OCTOBER 10:–In an unfortunate incident and alleged lackadaisical attitude of the JNV administration to handle the situation, three minor students were injured seriously among others in a violent clash between students of 11th & 12th classes inside the JNV complex at Kandi (Kotetranka) of Rajouri district.

The injured students have been identified as Shahbaz Chowdhary (16) s/o Mohd Rashid; Danish Aziz (16) s/o Abdul Aziz both residents of Kallar and Badal Singh (16) s/o Suresh Kumar resident of Thandikasi, all belong to Rajouri district.

All the injured were brought to the Community Health Center (CHC) at Kandi & out of them three were referred to GMC Rajouri.

“After initial treatment and observation all three students with serious injuries were referred to Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AH GMC) for further specialised treatment,” said Dr. Farooq, CHC Kandi.

Sources said that the violent clash followed by stone pelting took place on Monday inside the school complex between two groups of students just before commencing the examination over a dinner issue that took place on Sunday night which was resolved by the vice-principal, teachers & house masters.

“As both the group of students (11th & 12th classes) were involved in violent clash followed by stone pelting, police were called to control the situation. Within minutes SHO along with a team of police and CRPF personnel reached the school and took control of the situation” said Vice-Principal, Kamal Jeet Bhatti.

Reliable sources said that the tension between 11th & 12th class students over petty issues is not new. Today’s episode was the 8th or 9th during the current session and the JNV Koternaka administration was told to take strict action against the trouble-creator students.

“Today’s clash followed by stone pelting was very severe and could have caused fatal injuries. Despite repeated requests to the JNV Principal to take strict action, including rustication, against such students who are involved in making continuous unrest inside the school complex, the school administration has chosen silence over the issue” said a local resident.

“The school administration has taken serious note of Monday’s violent clash and the matter has been taken up with higher authorities. A team of senior officials from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) Chandigarh coming to Koternka on Tuesday to look into the matter” said Vice Principal, Kamal Jeet Bhatti.

He added the school administration has prepared the report for the perusal of the visiting team. A list of 8-10 trouble creator students has been prepared either to shift them to other institutions or for their rustication.

“The action against erring students will be decided by the visiting team,” said Vice Principal

It is pertinent to mention here that Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kotranka is a co-educational residential Vidyalaya situated in the Rajouri district and presently 498 students studying in the school including girls.
