100% beneficiaries above 18 yrs got first jab in Kandi Upper Panchyat

Rajouri July 13 :--Upper Kandi Panchayat of Old Budhal block in the Rajouri district has become the first Panchyat to give the first dose of Covid -19 vaccine to all the eligible beneficiaries above 18 years of age group.
This could become possible with the selfless efforts of health teams from the Kandi health block who have given the first jab of Covid vaccine to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps under the supervision of Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO.
“The 100% vaccination target has also been achieved in the Panchyat for the people above 45 years group. The health teams have achieved the milestone by visiting the beneficiaries at their scattered houses in tough terrains and high mountains, including Nomads in the pastures” said Zatoon Begum, sarpanch.
“This could become possible with collaborative and coordinated efforts of the health department, the district administration, local representatives, and community members and especially due impactful strategy of Rajesh Kumar Shavan, District Magistrate” said Dr. Iqbal Malik.
Dr. Shamim Bhatti, CMO has also continuously provided technical guidance and support throughout the vaccination drive while Additional DC, Kotranka remained very active in garnering public support.
“The vaccine hesitancy and doubts were cleared by medical experts with the support of Sarpanch, Zatoon Begum, who also remained in constant touch with health teams,” said Dr. Iqbal, BMO.
In order to cover tough geographical terrains, BMO adopted a unique, innovative approach by organising special camps near the houses beside door-to-door vaccination drive was launched which aimed to cover every individual at their doorstep.
The mobile teams functioned under Ayoub Lone, Community Health Officer Kandi acted on a focussed and target-oriented approach.
The team members who achieved the target include Masood Ahmed, Pharmacist; Farida Akhter, FMPHW; Shahnaz Akhter, ASHA and Mansha Begum, AWW.
